Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi Gaaij,

I got the cable that I had ordered from EOBDTools along with the CD. It took all of 8 days to reach me and I paid around 3700 INR including shipping and everything. I went to their support page during the installation itself and followed it to the letter.

I also sent a Whatsapp message to the EOBD support number and I must say they are a fabulous lot of people. Even though they are closed on weekends, they rushed through and sent me the registration patch. I then activated the software, updated the firmware as well as the software to 18.9.1 and all looks good.

Now for some fun.

I've managed to deactivated high beam through my stalk. Don't know what I have selected / deselected wrong via VCDS but unable to bring it back on despite fiddling with some settings. Can anyone help ?

Will probably be something to do with bi-xenon or high beam settings. Do check central electric again and see what it might be. Did you not save the original long code?

While talking to someone I know, he said that it could probably something to do with the Control Module ->[Instrumentd Module -> Advanced Function Coding 07. The 5th digit should be 4.

Try this out without saving the config. If you have to save it, you may want to take note of the original value to revert to if it doesn't work.

NOTE: I am not an expert in VCDS and this info is from another person who knows a little bit.

Lesson learnt albeit a little late in the day.

Also, the headlamp washer and windshield washer do not work from the stalk. I removed the washer motor and connected it to a battery and it whirred to life. Ran a windshield washer check from VCDS and it works from there. I guess the wiper stalk has gone bad.

So sunday morning was spent resolving the issue. I had managed to turn off 'Headlight assist' and HBA [High Beam assist]. Fixed now.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi Gaaij,
Noobie question.
Is cluster staging/indicator celebration possible on the 2011 Passat HL DSG?
Tried it through VCDS but it says no channel available.
Screenshots of the same for any advice
Any help appreciated. TIA

If it says Channel not available, you'll have to scan the cluster's EEPROM and recode it. VCDS unfortunately won't be able to help here.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

I have polo gt tsi (2019), 10 days old. After going through this thread, had bought VCDS cable from eobdtool (18.9). I was able to modify lane change indicator, tear wiping from the Central Electronics menu. But on ABS Brakes, adaptation is grayed out. Any one faced this issue before?

Unfortunately, nothing other than buying another, I guess. Or send a note to the vendor and see if he has any solution.

Cables from AliExpress are always a hit or miss. They hack into the software available at that time and the cable will work only with that version of software. And you may not be able to communicate with all the controllers.

I had tried two AliExpress versions when doing some casual coding, and both these cables did not read some controllers in my Polo GT and the Jetta. When I upgraded to the original cable from Ross-Tech, everything worked smooth. With the original cable, even if a controller does not exist in their database, you can contact their support and they will add the new controller to the database and release an update to the software.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

I tried two cables on 2019 GT TSI, one from EOBDTOOLs and another from Aliexpress. Both couldn't read most of the controllers. Vendor at Aliexpress mentioned that it won't support 2019 models. As suggested by graaja, original cable seems to be safe bet.
