Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Needle staging is available in VW Jetta before 2015- I have a VW Jetta Comfortline 2013, I have activated it through VCDS from a garage here in my city. YouTube has plenty of videos on how to activate it. After activating in VCDS:-
1. Pull out key
2. Open and close the door
3. Lock it via remote
4. After 5-10 seconds, Unlock via remote
5. Turn key to ACC

You should be able to see the needle staging, this worked for me.

Here is the video link:-

Yes, so I guess it will not work on my car as mine is a Feb 2015 manufactured car.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Folks, I have the old RS and getting a GT TSi soon.

What version VCDS should I be looking for on Ali Express.

Also is the software upgradable or do we need to keep the update off?

Similar query. Need VCDS for VW Jetta 2015/ Skoda Octavia 2013 onwards.

Which version to buy. Is it a package consisting cable and software or they have to bought separately??

Any helpful sites showing how to use it for dummies.

Thanks

Please be very careful when buying VCDS from AliExpress. They are either a hit or a miss. From my personal experience, I had purchased cables twice from AliExpress and in both cases they did not work. Do not expect to get any replies or support from the seller in this regard.

However, if you still do want to take a chance with the purchase from AliExpress, make sure you test the cable with in 15 days from purchase as if it doesn't work, you can raise a dispute and get a refund.

Buy the latest version which is 18.2.1. This works with cars up to 2018. The VCDS from AliExpress cannot be upgraded.

The package will contain the cable and a CD for the software.

You can check out videos on YouTube.

I ended up purchasing my cable and software from www.eobdtool.com and it works flawlessly. It can be updated directly from the RossTech website.

Thanks. I will also purchase from eobdtool as you have had a good experience. I mentioned Aliexpress as I noticed people buying from them, though no personal experience with Aliexpress.

May I know the landed cost in India.

This is the link to the item I purchased
http://www.eobdtool.com/vcds-182-vag...ce-p-2654.html

I chose shipping through EMS which is around $21. Total landing cost with shipping was approximately INR 4500.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

I have been facing a weird issue since the last couple days. I'm unable to update code for 09-Central Electronics. I'm able to view the data, even update it through Long coding helper. It even's accepts the code. But when I go back in, the code hasn't changed. It's working fine with the other modules though.

Anyone faced a similar issue?

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

I had 2012 Vento TDI Manual, replaced with Vento TSI DSG in January 2018. I wanted to enable audible lock/unlock confirmation along with blinkers but has been informed from service center that this not possible with new car (In 2012 Vento it was enabled). Can someone please confirm?
Thanks in advance for help.

I bought a VCDS HEX V2, and works good. These cables are good and compatible with VW group cars. Good to go.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi. Does anyone know the coding to change the format of the instrument cluster clock from 12H to 24H? Mine is a 2015 GT TSI, and I can't find it at Byte 6 in the 17-Instruments module.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Epic,

Thanks following your lead I received my VCDS from EOBDTOOLS.

I installed the VCDS Loader on my Laptop.

The installation asks that VCDS be connected to hardware before it can be registered. Does it mean the Cable has to be plugged in to the car at one end and Laptop at the other end before the registration can happen OR I just connect the cable to PC at one end( I know it doesn't make sense), but I am afraid of the car systems going haywire if I keep it connected while I register the device.

Could you kindly guide me on this.

Thanks

Hey!!

The hardware (cable) needs to be connected to the laptop (not the car) so that it can be registered.

Once the cable is registered you should get a message like this:

VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread-vcds-status.jpg

This means that the USB port and VCDS has detected your cable and it is working fine. You can now go ahead and plug it in your car and it should work as it should.

You may also get a message saying 'Interface: Not Found'. In this case you will need to contact the team at OBDTool. You can WhatsApp them on 008613728823411 and they reply almost immediately. In my case they even went to the extent of solving my issue through Team Viewer. So in terms of support they are fantastic!!
