If I stop the AC for sometime, say after 5/10 minutes, it once again becomes the same old chilling experience!
I have not yet taken the car to service centre. I have noticed and have been able to replicate this problem couple of times also.
It is the compressor relay. It is failing. So when you use the AC it overheats after some time and fails to function. Once it cools down, it works again. It needs to be replaced. Cost me about Rs. 1,100/-.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Guys

got a problem,
whenever i drive enthusiastically with AC on, after 3.5k RPM the ac compressor cuts off and chilled air stops coming out of the air vents.
But if i drive between 900-3500 rpm it keeps on throwing chilled air.

Car is 07 V A/T done 46k kms

Can someone help ?
recently AC gas was topped up, Honda and also my mechanic said that AC service was not required only gas top up was required.

@Sandeep108 does it come under warranty replacement? My car is still under extended warranty.

But I must admit that it was a super boring feat driving at those speeds for a long time.

Cheers.

Uploading photo.The photo with 26.9 kmpl was not very clear.So uploaded this one.

In my view it should be under extended warranty.

See my post about the compressor relay. It's life is over. When it overheats, it fails, so it does not function when required. When cold, it works fine but after a few minutes it overheats and fails. It needs to be replaced.

When the relay starts to overheat, does it also makes more noise than usual?

Not that I noticed. It simply does not work, so the compressor does not switch on. Maybe when it tries again and again there may be some noise.

@sandeep

How and who traced your problem ?
Local mechanic or Honda A.S.S

If Honda A.s.s what did you tell them specifically to check?
where is the relay located?
and the cost you have mentioned above is it a Honda Price?

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hey guys, need your help! I had gone to my vendor to get the final element of my ICE installed ( a Focal monobloack amp)! everything was going as per plan and the amp was successfully installed when suddenly out of nowhere the dash shows an "engine check" light! A few unofficial calls to the Honda people convinced me to drive it back home (I was told it's a minor thing and will be rectified through a scan on Monday)! However, barely 5 minutes of drive later, the car throttle became unresponsive and completely died within 10 mins! Had to call the road side assistance and had the vehicle towed over to Arya service! What could have possibly gone wrong?? the car is 2 years old with insurance and extended warranty! This is the first ever such case with this car and i really cant figure out what could have possibly gone wrong!

Check for the loose battery terminal or loose earth earthing of the amp. Did they cut any OEM wiring harness ?

I agree with dip27in here. It is possible that the ground or one of the battery cables is cut/loose. Maybe some other wiring harness like the MAF is left open. I doubt that the installers could have cut any other cable or wiring harness. Do let us know what had happened and what code was logged in the OBD.

The installer checked the entire wiring but no loose connections! No OEM wiring harness was touched!

Will let you know the code and remedies!

Still can't understand what could possibly affect the throttle control??

@rohan

probably a busted throttle pedal position sensor, as this is the sensor which communicates ur throttle pedal position to ecm which inturn controls the amount of actuation of the throttle valve.
