Hi all, I have install the AC filter( (in the compartment near the glove box) bought from US into 2012 Civic , could one advise the interval for cleaning /replacement? Also any suggestions if this AC filter is available in India?

Any suggestions on adding K&N Performance air filter to Civic and its benefits, does it void the warranty?

@vcx; I bought one (FRAM) mail order on eBay. I hear the Accord has the same, as do many models of Toyota. If you look into the threads of Dust/Pollen Filters as well as mine on Alabaster Silver Civic you will find the details. As for filter life, they specify 20,000km on the City, so must be about the same. Inspect the filter and decide. A lt may depend on the percentage of time when you have 'outside' air open.

I'm still undecided whether to get my civic's clutch replaced or not. The mechanic says it's hard but no that hard. I've got a hard n squeaky clutch , reduced mileage, although slotting gears is okay for now.With 90k on the odo, I think it's time to go in for a replacement. Honda A.S.S are quoting 30k for the entire replacement, hence I'm looking at a FNG to do the job.

Now the question is, which OE clutch replacement brand should I trust? My mechanic says PHC Valeo, if I can get my hands on the original. There is another brand CEEKAY which is pretty well known too. Any help?

Hi Guys,

Posting on this thread since the amount of knowledge about Civics on this thread is insane and the two threads (this and this) that I found on Civic front suspension issues were quite old.

The issue is the combination of India's lack of standard speedbreakers and Civic's low GC.

Today, I went over a really bad speedbreak, this one was V shaped if that makes sense. I was at no speed at all and barely crawled my way over the bump.

However, the left suspension gave way and I could feel a noticable THUD. Upon further inspection later, I could see some leakage that was happening just below the front left suspension.

Can anyone shed light on what this may indicate and how much fixing it may cost ?

On their site, PHC claim to be OEM for Honda. And I've heard elsewhere DAIKIN exedy is the OEM brand. Hence the confusion. I thought somebody would have got their clutch replaced outside the A.S.S setup, hence I posted my query here.

Thanks but I went it for a custom aux installation. Now I have an aux port so it's a lot more convenient.

Yes that's true. But which one is better? PHC is softer, while DAIKIN is a bit hard and stiff or so I've heard. Longevity wise it's more or less the same, depends on the driver imo. My stock clutch is good after 90k kms, only now I'm having a drop in mileage.

What should I do with the flywheel? Any suggestions? Batra Auto at Ashram, Delhi is pretty reputed and he says no need to replace, one can get it resurfaced.

So I finally went and bought the DAIKIN Exedy clutch set. The folks at Batra auto said it's OEM for Honda. Here's the breakup for the same.

Clutch set - 4550
Bearing - 750
3 ltrs gear oil - 580

The flywheel doesn't warrant a replacement, that's what the experts say. Going in for the works today.

@coolkurt; at 90,000km when opening up I will go for a new disk just as a precaultion. Of course refacing should also work.

In all possibility it appears to be the hydraulic power steering. I had the same problem with mine. It is either the pipe that returns the fluid or the o-rings.

If it is o-rings - it is about 9k. However, if it is the pipe, it is about 12k.

Best to lift the car and check, from the color seems like engine oil, is the filter fixed properly? Also check if the valve cover packing is intact. In our Crv valve cover was leaking and dropping oil like this.

So best is to go underneath or peak from above and find the origin.
