Re: Mercedes W124 E Class Support Group

Part Numbers

32: A 124 671 14 30
35: A 001 987 24 60

Generally in most of the replaced windscreen W124 i have seen 26, 29 is missing which leads to the outer seal near the wiper 32 not fitting flush

It'll stay in place just as is, a lot of people get it stuck down, but it can be a problem if you ever need to service the AC motor, as the wiper motor assembly has to come out first.

It's a sort of clip system that apparently breaks when the windscreen is removed. I'm not entirely sure. It hasn't been stuck in my E220 and it is just fine. Doesn't flap or move about at all.

Re: Mercedes W124 E Class Support Group

Part number 26-29 is basically rivetted at the bottom of the windscreen; on this a rubber gasket 35 is stuck; this is what goes missing resulting in 32 not air tight at the base of the windscreen and wiper motor; this leads to water into the area behind the firewall

Ask me how i know??

My car has this; At the moment i have taped it down for monsoon; will source these parts and fix them for good

Can you please post a photo of your car's windshield area for better understanding?

Re: Mercedes W124 E Class Support Group

Update

I got new blank Keys from the dealer and had them cut using the original key.
I also got my Owners Service Manual yesterday. So if anyone needs any text or picture help please let me know. My manual is for petrol models only.

I was also wondering that is my FE ok. I get around 7-7.5 km/l with full a/c and in city traffic with speed of around 50-60. And also my fuel needle moves a little while driving and I feel that when I park my car the needle is higher but when i start the car again after sometime it shows a little less reading.
Also got a Kenwood basic stereo fitted.

The FE is fine. You could maybe get the injectors cleaned, you should see an improvement. I have been getting 7.5 to 7.8 in crowded conditions with 93 octane. With 97, it goes up by another 0.75. Also, do you get 93 or 97 octane in your city? If so, you should try and use that.

Is your parking spot on an incline? It would account for the difference in reading. I haven't experienced this though, and in fact, I find the meter to be very accurate.

I use the std. petrol available. 97 is not available in chandigarh. Will try using 93 if i find it. And also will syatem G help with the injector cleaning till my next service.
And i am using 205/65/r15 tyres with 36 psi front and 42psi rear.

And yes the car is parked on a incline, so that explains.

If your fuel meter is acting weird; then it is worthwhile that you open sender and give it a thorough clean; over the years the trash in our petrol gum it up and the contacts inside the sender don't work properly

Hi,
I have the same problem with my 220,the gauge goes up a bit when i turn off the car and goes down when start the car again regardless of incline/decline but is quite accurate on the highway,by the way,i have the same color W124 and i am pretty frequent to chandigarh. Lately it has developed a peculiar noise on a cold start just for 2-3 seconds and disappears,as if some pulley is loose, but i cant seem to find where is the sound coming from,it goes away when the car is warm.I guess its time to send the car to patel autos.

Re: Mercedes W124 E Class Support Group

Viraat, Tharakan, everyone,

So finally finally finally! Pics coming up in a couple of days. Its Midnight/Federal/Dark Blue. 1,24,xxx done (genuine), 1996 make, very well maintained. Vouched by a reputed Merc mechanic (who also happen to be a relative of us) who has been servicing the vehicle. I had to extend the budget a little bit and giving the token about tomorrow.

Not the alloy-wheeled version though
