I know its hard to believe the press. I have spent quite a lot of time during the testing process of remapping the 1.2Tsi and I have experienced Polo 1.2Tsi's along with 1.6 NA in different states of tune.
All I can say that after all the mods, the paddle shifts alone is the best possible mod for the Polo Tsi especially with the paddle shift extenders. Put it in a track with nice curves and chicanes, I assure you it will kill the 1.6 even if you are a worse driver than the guy driving the 1.6NA.

The 1.2 tsi's in europe are making as much as 115bhp stock post the breakin periods ~5000kms. Remaps are yeilding close to 145bhp. BUT note this is on 97 octane. No DSG issues on the 1.2 seat cupras or the fabias.

I've been hooked on this thread for a while and it did prompt me to book the car last month. I wanted to take a moment to congratulate Robi on the outstanding efforts to create a true gem.

Probably not the right thread, but considering most of the TSi folks are hooked on this thread, I happened to notice that the TSi brochure is out on VW Indias' website and on the last page it talks about extended warranty that is available. I promptly called up VW Whitefield, where I placed the order for the car and they ofcourse had no idea. They said that once the extended warranty numbers comes out from VW India they will be able to let me know. Atleast I've now seen it in the brouchure. Perhaps it's been there all along but I just noticed it.

I am about to book a gt tsi. Just waiting for my polo 1.6 deal to go through.
The very first thing i am planning is to upgrade the tyres to 205/55/r15.
i need your opinion on 205 section tyre that you are running on your polo.
i am confused between 195/60/r15 and 205/55/r15.

205 on a 6J rim is something I would personally not recommend. It is right on the edge and will alter the ride quality.

Best fit with least speedo error and ride comfort would be a 16x205/50 or 215/45 if you can find the tire.

195/60/r15 any day (Michelin would be good) - Unless you want to upgrade the rim size to 6.5j.

But think - IMHO, you do not need more than 195 for a Polo, even if it is a Tsi.

I am using 195/60/r15 (Bridgestone) on my Polo Tdi in the last 35k Kms and am satisfied in all respects.

My only concern is the cracking of the rim. Mumbai roads are filled with pot holes. Even the tyre being lower profile than 15 inches, will it be prone to cracking and sidewall bump. I also need suggestion on upgrading them to 17 inch if it is completely safe.

I'm running 16ers on my 1.6. 205/50 R16 on Borbet LS 16x7 rims. The combination of wheel and tire is heavier than stock 15ers with 185/60 tires but trust me the weighed up steering and increased grip are worth the upgrade. One may say it's psychological but braking has improved too. It feels so much more planted at the corners, "sticks like a leech" if one may say. The sidewall height is a very comfortable 4.03" and unless your driving consists of poor highways, you should go in for 16ers with your eyes closed. I cannot comment on the effect on efficiency as I never recorded but does dip in bumper to bumper traffic.

Don't go above 16s, you will have to be too careful while driving. Getting 205s with stock rims means you won't have to worry about sidewall bubbles or anything at all. But 16s will look better and will be a good compromise between practicality and the 17s looks.

Need to do some more digging thru the forums.. Seems like the culprit is the control module.

Swapped out my tires too 205s and it did help a LOT with the steering feel. Will try dialing out some -ve camber in the front wheels (rears cannot be adjusted) and see if that will help as well..
