Hey Kumar7: I have finalised on 185/65R14 XM1+. After clarifications from lambo & nitinrally, my concerns on cornering & performance were answered.

As far the ECU recalibration is concerned, Fiesta's speedo has about 5-6% margin of error at different speeds. Upsizing will only help in bringing down this error to 3-4% levels.

Marginal error in the ODO reading is nothing much to worry about. Afterall, even on the stock tyre, the actual distance travelled will vary based on the pressure you maintain on the tyre as the actual rolling radius changes with the tyre pressure and the load in the car.

Go ahead and enjoy the magic carpet ride of 185/65

Do we have option in Fiesta to put Sunblind or we need to make provision for it to hang it on rear window?
I too have come across in some threads where people talking about sunblinds. Not sure if it is offered as an additional accessory and if there is a provision to install one. Let me know if you find something about this.

Today I called dealer and told him that he can call SBI bank & ask them to disburse my loan amount.

After 10mins I got call from dealer saying I can collect car on 10th after RTO formalities. When I asked for PDI then he said he will let me know once car arrives.

After reading Fiesta Limited edition news I called dealer to check if the offer is on ZXI model as well and got satisfactory answer saying its only applicable for EXI model.

The dealer said that my car reached Pune [it was too quick for car to reach Pune! May be he was having stock but he was waiting for full payment or it may be coincidence. I think first part is correct ] and I can come down for PDI tomorrow. It seems that most the customers not doing PDI and thats why dealer manager said - In my 8 years of experience you are one customer who asking for PDI?

As per the feedback on BHP & other websites I came to know that most of the people recommended this dealer but I was surprised to hear about sales manager comment about PDI.

He also asked me what primarily you going check? - I said I am not the expert like you but still just for my sake I want to check before it goes for registration.

Long back I downloaded PDI checklist from BHP forum and kept it ready for my reference.

My family is not in favor to do PDI between 4th Sept to 19th Sept - so need to respect there feeling but by knowing the fact that my car is in Pune increased my curiosity to see her!

I suggest you do PDI. Dont take delivery. But do your PDI. If there is an issue, you can alert the dealer and he can call for a new car.
DO NOT, under any circumstances make a SINGLE compromise. Flying Spur has had a problem with a brand new i20, which any unsuspecting buyer would have surely purchased.
Worry not, the day is near. Just be sure, and do a proper PDI.
Any suspicion, and back out of the car. Ask for a new one.

Kumar. u should go for the PDI. I got the same issue, family asking me to avoid the period from 4-18Sep, but i dont think doing a PDI should cause any concern. I have scheduled by delivery on 19 Sep. fingers crossed

Kumar, today I called dealer and asked when car is reaching Pune, He told it will reach around 20th Sept. I asked him to call me when it reaches Pune, so I can do PDI before registration, He replied, He will let me know and I'm welcome for PDI.

I know you will do PDI. I think better to stick to Team-BHP protocal and enjoy hassle free delivery.

Yeah, I told sales manager that doesn't matter how well you people do PDI but still I want to check few things before car goes for RTO registration.
He is not against it but it seems he was trying to avoid because in last week when I was at showroom I found that in 2 weeks of time they booked 25 Fiesta and it looks most of them will delivered on 28th of this month (Dashera) so he want to finish all formalities asap.

Thats true Ashish! we both are in same boat and because of 4-18 issue I am not doing PDI and instructed dealer to stop RTO registration formality. Am planning to do PDI on 21st.

By that time you might be having your machine with you

Hey Rajesh, I think you are luck as your car is coming after 18th so there is no such restriction like I have from my family (I know this varies from individual to individual) but I think it should be fine to delay PDI as anyway am planning to take delivery on 28th.

In worst case if something goes wrong during PDI then As we buying the good car and planning to keep it with us for atleast 5years then its ok to bare little delay though its very tough thing and am sure that not many but few of them might already doing count down like 21,20,19 ...... days left to take the delivery of JOSH machine!

Pdi

As per the plan I called sales person in morning to inform him that I will reach showroom in an hour so that he can plan accordingly. At showroom the sales person greated nicely and asked me to sit as he was attending customers. After 10min he came back saying that he informed stock yard in-charge to allow you to do PDI (I think it was his wish to come at stockyard and there was no such restriction for someone from showroom to escort the customer). I was ok with it as sometime we need to follow their instructions even though we don’t want to do it but this wasted my time and I need to drive few more extra kms.

I was heading towards stockyard with couple of question in mind like – Hope there should not be any scratches, rust and damage for which I have to say NO to accept her and postpone the delivery!

After reaching stockyard I saw two brand new Fiesta (Platinum & Morelo) was standing separately surrounded by other covered cars. Met the security guard and as expected he wasted my half an hour.

Me: I Came for PDI
Security: No one informed me.
Me: Sales person said he informed someone here.
Security: No I didn’t got any call. Let me call and check.
Me: What happened?
Security: Salesperson was not around to answer.
Me: Who is the incharge here?
Security: I am the incharge.
Me: Call salesperson again
Security: Line is engage now.
Me: I called sales person directly on cell and he said he informed the manager over there.
Me: Again, who is the incharge?
Security: Its me?
Me: I said who is XXX over here?
Security: He is the manager

In hot sunny day he made me mad and I finally met the incharge. He asked someone to bring the car inside for PDI.
One of the staff picked up the same car standing with Morelo and parked the car where we can do the PDI. As expected all dirt was around it so I requested them to clean it. The staff was very cooperative and they immediately called one person to clean. Later the guy who brought the car asked whether you want us send the car for wash so that you can check for all scratches and all. I was delighted and said yes for it.

In 5mins car came back and I followed the lengthy checklist which I downloaded it from BHP. The checklist was very useful so there was no chance to say that you forgot something to check.

When I started photo session of her then the staff said let me park the car from where you can take her full view (from this we can make out how much he was involved in our PDI process)

The only thing which bothered me is the floor mat which was bit more dirty than I was expecting. They said that at the time of delivery you will get clean car and anyways it will covered with rubber mat so it will remain intact later on.

The staff was very helpful and he was also explaining the features of it. (He was also enjoying which usually happens at all showrooms)

After decoding the VIN details below is the result I got -

Manufacturer Identifier: MAJ
Body type: 3 Door Hatchback
Line: M
Assembly Plant: R
Model: Fiesta
Year: (some codes are used for more than one year)
Month: G

I booked car in Aug and from VIN its showing car manufactured in July 09.

Stock tyres are BS so after doing PDI I left the place by thanking the staff who helped us alot. I then rushed to my tyre dealer and said that earlier we finalised the deal against MRF but car having BS. The dealer said there is no much difference but after giving reference of other dealer he agreed to return Rs 2000 back. (So he taking each stock BS for Rs 3090/-)

Good to know that the PDI is done. Did you manage to move it around a bit or was all the driving done by the showroom guys? Are you taking delivery of the car on 28th?

The stock yard people was managing it and I was busy in checking all points from the check list. It took me an hour to check all things. I didnt got chance to drive and I was so excited that I forgot to ask for it

Yeah am taking delivery on Dashera!

While just going through the pics I found that the front wheel does not have small cap but this is applicable to both front wheels so not sure if its normal?

One more thing where I will need help from senior BHPian is that my tyre dealer is ok to provide either Michelin 185/65/R14 XM1+ or yokohama tyres. As per him there is no price difference but yokohama is new brand so its upto customer which one he wants to go with it but he was sounding like yokohama is far better than Michelin.

If you suggest yokohama tyres then are those available in 185/65/R14?

Which one in Yokos, A-Drives? I'm not a tyre expert, just inquisitive.

hi Kumar

Congratulations on the PDI... nice pics

Just one thing - my Fiesta has MRF branded tyres (and my car is manufactured in Sept09). Yours is manufactured in July09, but has Bridgestone? Doesn't Ford have a standard brand of tyres? or did my dealer fool around with me???

I have not done any research on Yoko so dont know much about it. I just explored the option and found that its available at same price as Michelin.

Thanks Ashish!
Its strange that you booked car later in sept and still stock tyres are of MRF brand.

I booked car on 21st Aug so its obvious to get car manufactured in the month of July. Am sure that Ford will not afford to keep different brands of tyres on assembly line and will not confuse the staff who suppose to fix them.

Am not sure but you still have window to doubt on your dealer who might changed the tyres as now who ever took the delivery of Fiesta they got BS as stock tyres.

Its better you ask dealer about this and if possible get them changed as you planning to keep them.

Simply compare the fact that I am getting Rs 2000/- back which I paid to tyre dealer just because its BS
