Update related to FE after the ECU update! drove at speed less than 80 kmph, mostly around 70 kmph in range of 1.2-1.5K RPM range.

This is what I captured,


it went as high as 22.6 and the finally at the end, it was


All this indicate that update has improved the FE, never saw FE in range of 22, this was the first time I saw 22+ kmpl

Hi Pramod,
Good to know about the increase in you FE too after the update! It has made our Yetis even more fuel efficient. In my case my gain was around 5% on the FE.

what diesel do you boys use?
Premium or Normal?

I ask because in some of the places I go to, there isnt any Premium Diesel available and I want my vehicle to have a standardized sort of diet, (normal HSD) the way I do in my Scorpio too.

I dont put any additives into the Fuel either because of that strange phenomenon that quite literally gums up the works or so Im told - apparently the injectors get clogged with a gummy substance which emanates from the fuel additives.

I have always used regular diesel and get it filled from a good BP outlet, which I trust on the quality of the fuel. Hi-speed diesel is not recommended as the additives can damage the engine (also mentioned in the user manual for the Yeti).

I have been using standard diesel for Yeti since new. I mostly use BP diesel from their company owned company operated (COCO) pumps. On long drives too I lookout for COCO pumps.

BTW is there any advantage of using premium diesel. On some threads I recall people advising to stay away from premium diesel though I could figure the why of the recommendation.

The Yeti manual also recommends use of standard diesel and expressly states not add any additives.

Shankar, I'll also agree on the BP, after having tried many other options.

I generally use two BP outlets in TN highway (Krishnagiri/Dharmapuri) or in BLR - the one with a McD opposite Museum (end of M.G Road).

im getting the LittleBigFoot this afternoon - will waddle across to the dealer's in a bit
why they tell us not to use this premium diesel is because the additives in it tend to gum up the fuel injectors Im told.
ive used regular HP diesel for years now and its been very good so far. typically i fill up only in one of three bunks in BLR - Hosur Road near St Johns, Koramangala near Manipal Cure and Care and HSR where I live.

@Shankar: congrats on your Yeti, phew you finally got Yeti after so much of deliberation on all options, Guderian was the other guys looking for Yeti, but finally got T-Fort, so I now have other companion who is moving from Scorpio!

I use normal diesel too, once you stat seeing the FE it makes you drive for more and I have started enjoying the slow speed now, going for Service tomorrow and also sticking with Bajaj Allianz/Skoda insurance with 0 depreciation policy, will update on the service experience once done!

Do you mean the 2.0 manual 4x2 or the 1.6? If the vehicle hasn't been launched yet, how will the test drives commence so soon?

The 2.0 4x2 has been recently launched, test drives for one might be starting from next week.

I am quite close to a Yeti purchase and have been shown 2 models in stock. I have noted the VIN numbers and used the helpful guide here.. However i can decode it to be a 2011 model but can you please help me identify what would be the month of manufacture? Thanks a lot.

the recommendation from Skoda is to use standard Diesel. So have been using that. No additives either. it works best.

A few of us Skoda car users(Laura and Yeti) in my Bank felt that air-conditioning was an issue. So we approached Autobahn, Mumbai and Skoda. Their services levels were very good. In 3 days, they fixed all the 4 cars, including the compressor change issues mentioned in this chain earlier.

I think Skoda has come good on their promise of After Sales Service. I was apprehensive of the same at the time of buying the car, and had mentioned this to the Corporate Sales persons in Skoda when buying the Yeti in Feb.

I am not sure about the month, will try to see how to get hat info from VIN and will get back.

Done the servicing today not a pleasant experience as it took whole day to get the max 3 hours job, but nonetheless that how it is. The service centers was flooded with Fabia and old Octavia and then they have limited tools with I being around pushed to use the right tools rather than jugaad! Some unpleasant scratches on account of careless mechs, not serious but still they are scratches that make me feel bad. The total cost came too 8K for oil change, and all filters, I rotated the tires to and had the interior cleaned. The worst they were of opinion that it's 7.5K Kim's for servicing and what they have put in the next service Kim's, I will call Skoda for this!
They are using castrol for engine oil now and it costed 3.7K for 4.5l
