I'm zero when it comes to vintage cars. Pray, what are these models?
White cars both appear to be Hindusthan 14s.

Black car appears to be a Morris 8, although, as you said, photo isnt too clear.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

The second sure is Morris Minor, both in white color, I guess someone might have purchased them from somewhere and taking it home, might be wrong. It's been long time seen Morris Minor in White since the one at Noor Khan Bazar, Hyderabad car was sold which I used to eye on when I just started earning.

A Ghost ? An apparition...

In the labyrinthine by-lanes of old Bandra, lies this 1940s Dodge. Brooding. Almost ghostly in appearance, more so under the dim street lights.

She longs for the days when Bandra was but a seaside village.
And she was the equivalent of today's E-class. Tearing down the streets - with graceful rapidity.

Wish I could have this car.

Edit: the car is actually a nice blue and white. In good nick too. The dim halogen street lights plus my antiquated cellphone camera made it yellow.

Wow she is a real beauty, I am visualizing those days when she was fairly new, ripping the empty roads. Did you try asking for this car, I hope and pray you get this car if not me. There is one similar car in good condition in Ramoji Film city in Hyderabad, A.P though I haven't seen it but saw in some facebook posts.

It's a nice car no doubt but the point that she was the equivalent of today's E-Class is not really apt, at least not in the Calcutta of yore.

These Dodge's of the mid to late 40's were used in Calcutta in the 50s and 60s with the original engines, as taxis, and they were very common.

Today of course they are collectible in our country.

Prithvi

Re: A Ghost ? An apparition...

If not mistaken this car is for sale and was for a brief period in Nagpur at a Garage. It went from Bombay at one time and looks like its back. I have attached a Nagpur snap I had long back in the same combination.

Cheers
