Is this a known car, more importantly is this a Real Ad?
Brig.Gill also had a Buick Super 8 which i think belonged to the Faridkot state. I was after him to sell the car to me,but the stock answer was a NO. Just one week after I last enquired from him,I came to know that the car was sold. When I asked him about it, he told me that I was not persuasive enough.Even when he sold the Rolls he quoted 9 lakhs and asked for the payment within one hour.Sure enough the money was arranged and the Rolls was gone. Now I think there is either a Humber or Rover which is left. Brig. Gill is no more now.

If I'm not mistaken this Rolls was with a Jeweler family in Sector-8 Chandigarh who also had a 30's Chevy tourer

The only hitch is that under the new import rule you cannot register or drive the car on the road. Which is a bummer!

And I would put some premium on provenance for a Maharaja car.

Well sadly in India very few people do drive their cars (especially a Vintage Rolls) on the Road apart from the 2/3 large rallies a year.

So I don't think the registration clause should be much of a deal breaker (as sad as that may be)

Agreed on the provenance premium though!

We must be very clear - under this rule one CANNOT even take it out for a rally once a year. That's a big spoke in the wheel for me.

Oh!! I thought the restriction was that the cars could only be driven at registered rallies and events. Yup pretty much worthless bringing a car under this scheme then, unless you're planning a static museum.

I'm puzzled though.. How did the imported blue Cadillac participate in the large Bombay rally a few months ago?

According to the information on zauba, it's mentioned that the cars are allowed to participate in vintage rallies and shows !

Is the ad genuine? It appears to be, but this is a 1965 or so model. The car in the ad is orange and is in the upper photo.
1956 Scout is in the second photo below.

Cheers harit

yes Haritji, the car is genuine and seeing the ludicrous price the ad should also be genuine
It is a 1968 model Scout brought into INDIA by CIDA and maintained by KSEB. It was auctioned off at a pittance few years ago. This vehicle was originally petrol now is having a diesel engine(as per MVD records)

Yes Haritji the ad is genuine . Like Ajay had mentioned it was imported from Canada for the hydroelectric project work in Kerala . It was bought by a friend of mine from the Kerala state electricity board in an auction . He had it for many years and was bought by the present owner for under a lakh . This Scout was one of the special order editions that came with a Perkins Diesel engine from the factory . This is a 1965 Scout 80 model and had an original removable travel top made from fiberglass . The soft top you see in the pictures is recent change made by the present owner. No comments regarding the price quoted !!
