Spotted a Standard Companion at a garage in Mysore. The car is supposed to be a petrol and has been stowed for quite a while now as the "water body" is unavailable. Hope it doesn't end up in the 'Rust in peace' thread! :(

Looks like quite a clean car with most of the stuff intact!

Water pump readily available on Ebay UK, can be posted to India:

A mk1 Standard Herald for sale in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. Going by the way the rear seat's been propped up, it seems to have been in use as "baraat" car for hire! Needs a LOT of work atleast bodily as can be seen!
Hope the owner has retained the roof!

Happened to find these pics. of a Standard Gazel mk2 photo'd in Goa by an Andrew Bone, circa October 1994, which is relatively recent- wonder if it still exists!

I doubt it; the construction looks too refined!

There was what was known as a "6 CWT" van:

Where is this picture taken? I see it almost everyday but cannot recollect of any rust on the right side door. It is very well maintained.

If I am not mistaken Standard Pennat with registration no MDN xxxx is a vehicle registered in the state of Tamilnadu the erstwhile Madras state.
