The airfilter in question seems original.
Thanks manish! Wow, how I envy you man!!

Well, turns out the white mk2 Herald is not my old friend's Herald from Wilson Garden though. His had the later "flat" bootlid and an MYQ regn.

I was hoping it was, considering it was very original and was just left as it is when he left for the US. 'wonder what happened to those cars of his now...

The green mk1 is indeed the same one advertised last year in AI, as Karl Holmes () identified!

I didn't realise the paint was metallic though.

I remember this car, I'd called up the then owner, the doc, quite a few times. He told me it was his father's car. I remember him telling the rear part of the roof (and I think even front left chassis crossmember) had rust, and that the front grille had been chromed. He'd told me the fitness or tax wasnt renewed so difficult to take NOC etc. I was ultimately still ready to take the car but only to be told that it was sold already! But I was told it had gone to delhi...so looks like the present owner bought it from there.

Reg. air-filter, it was 'standard' on all Heralds post 1962, the initial ones having a different one (will post pics. of that later, going out now!)

Lovely car, I've seen this one before. Is it an Eight, or a Flying Eight ?

This is the Standard 12 (1945-48). This was a post WW II launch by Standard of a pre-war model but now with some modifications including the redone front grille which resembled the Standard Flying Eight.

Khanak, is this the same car:

Standard 14 in Bombay

If so, then its a Standard 14. The car still looks very pristine although the Bombay climate has apparently not been very kind to the bumpers! Or are they just coated in grease, as was done in the old days to protect from corrosion?

I assume that this is an imported vehicle, being Triumph, Lefthand drive, and 1200CC.

Yes, it's an imported one. But not from UK, maybe some other country having LHD cars.

Another one lies waiting for deliverance in Mumbai. I have been coaxing the concerned person for this Triumph Herald for a long long time. Every year she moves further and further away from being restorable. She is a one owner car imported from France.

That's quite unfortunate, as the car appears to be a coveted 13/60, which is a 1300cc engine.

Wow, a 13/60- most powerful mechanically but made of the least strongest metal among the Triumph Heralds. Nasir Hussein is said to have had one.

'hope you're successful in getting it one fine day....!

PS: 'didn't know you liked to have a Herald too, amol!

Well thats what people said when I bought the Fiat I have always had a secret admiration for Heralds my aunt had a mint green and beige one and my mom's best friend had a red one.

But anyways the so called Ming eyes on the car really appeal to me. The owner has promised to let me know soon if he would be intrested in giving the car to me. I am holding my breath.

I agree the metal in this car is the worst and I will most probably need a scrapped Herald chassis to get this car back on the road.
