And here's more coming up. A Padmini "special" (assuming from the colour combo) seen in the late 70s Tamil rajnikanth starrer "Thillu mullu" (based on the Hindi movie 'Golmaal') Note the matching nice 2-tone interior!

Other cars seen from the same movie are a Morris Minor tourer (with Amby headlights I suspect), a 4-door (mk3) Herald (just glimpsed briefly) and a Dukkar fiat taxi! Plus Lambrettas galore!
Enjoy!

Enjoyed viewing them all. The Premier Padmini is from 1976-77, when this two tone colour came along from PAL for a short while. Another two tone colour scheme was the white hood and bottle to moss green lower body.

I cannot see the video, though it is probably a red cabrio, regd 5200? Used to belong to Mehmood, now in a large collection.

Sorry bout the late reply! Yes, it'd been posted earlier.

And here are some cars seen in an 80s tamil movie "tik tik tik", starring Kamal Hasan. Anyone who could identify the red and blue car MSY 1862? Definitely British and definitely some Rootes product. But not able to place it exactly.
And the 2-tone blue car is a chevy?
Sorry about the poor clarity in some of the stills.

BTW, see if you can spot the Herald and Pennant in the parking lot pic. of MSY 1862!

MSY xxxx is a Sunbeam Talbot Roadster. It was available as a roadster with the cut doors and a DHC with an all weather top with flat doors and teh sedan versions liek teh one that was in an event that took place recently at the Chow Mohalla Palace.

Shyam there was one of these in silver lying in a lane opposite the old Gold Spot factory in Ameerpet with a mechanic.

Any idea if it is still around or has it perished. That car was immaculate and went downhill over a period of time but th guy would still not seel it.

BTW it had those distinctive "pram irons" on the sides.

It looks like a Jag alright. The car that Madhubala is driving is an Ambassador.

Nope, never seen a Sunbeam in the area you describe, sorry! There is a 4-door Herald there though, its been rotting into the ground since ages and in use as a grocery stall:

Its gone much worse now than it looks here!

PS: Sorry for going OT here!

@ Stanher: I recently saw hindi movie "BADMASH COMPANY" & it features Standard Herald & also gets mentioned by Shahid in one of his dialogues in the movie. All through the movie I was reminded of you. Imagine Shahid & Anushka *KISSING* big time in Herald. Or shall I suggest you go & watch that movie just for the sake of watching a running herald.
The car has some good 5-10 minutes of reel time to itself. Hail Herald (Stanher).

Thanks! 'couldnt find it in the links on youtube though, so watching the full movie may be the only alternative (when I have the time! )

Anyways, here is an early s2 lambretta driven by Rajesh Khanna in the movie "Doli" (1969)
Actually he is first shown riding a navy blue LD, which reappears in the end too, but is replaced by this s2 in between- common practice in Indian movies!

The rear seat on the LD in the movie is removed by his father who is enraged at him for giving a lift to a girl. In order to maintain the continuity despite changing the scooter, the rear seat had been removed even on this one!
