Re: Wbd8775 & Wba1771

I often browse prewarcar.com and its sister post war section, and today's feature showed an interesting 'Allstate' sold by Sears. Basically a badge engineered Kaizer Frazer Henry J, which is a little more familiar, though still quite obscure to me.

The car looked very familiar, and I remember it from a 2010 post by salman, quoted below

I think we finally have a match, though it is more likely to be the Henry J.

Sirjee, are you quite sure it said 1948?? If you look at the background car, unless I'm mistaken it looks like a '54 dukkar, one of your brownie's siblings!
So this photo would have been well into the mid 50s!

Can be 1958 also. The guys posting on website of www.OLDPHOTOS.IN missed a decade somewhere.

Just because I haven't seen one doesn't mean anything. There could certainly have been a couple around, or this could be shot abroad. I remember a couple of similar Datsuns being discussed.

I doubt it's an SSK because the windscreen is too tall, not likely for a convertible SSK. I thought it was already concluded that its a RR. The car behind looks like a Daimler going by the radiator grill.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

This picture of KEM hospital in Pune appeared in a recent issue of Citadel magazine.

Can the car be identified? The 'crown' motif on the radiator grille and mascot does bear some resemblance to the Nizam's, but cannot confirm.

This type of "Imperial" crown is usually seen on the Viceroy / Province / Presidency Governor's cars.

Hello! Suggestions are pending as to the identity of the car.

If you look closely at the picture, it is not the front axle which is broken, but the wooden wheel. That is why it looks so severe. Probably he would have just changed the wheel and later had the spokes repaired.

Coolie woman was probably photographed on DN Road opposite the old Handloom House.
Thirsty man is a desprate situation. Actually Mumbai had a number of these watering holes, and they were meant mainly for horses. Today there is one after the petrol pump next to the Ambulance place opposit Metro Cinema, another one near PM Road, again one near Excelleny restaurant in Fort area. I doubt that they still work, but they are decorative.

Raab rakha.
Please remeber that some films were shot abroad even in the 1960's. Though foreign exchange was scarce and generally not given for such purpose, I believe that movies were shot in Tokyo, Paris etc. This photo could have been taken during one such trip, if no such Honda came to India.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

A bus on a hill. Appears to be a bit different, an International? The bus behind is a Chevy.

Cheers harit
