Bajaj to launch Husqvarna brand in 2019

According to a media report, Bajaj Auto has announced that the company will launch the Husqvarna brand in India next year.

Earlier this year, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 were spotted testing in India. These are expected to be Husqvarna's first offerings for the Indian market and will be built at Bajaj Auto's Chakan facility.

Both models share their underpinnings with the KTM 390 Duke. The bikes feature a circular LED headlight and a single-pod digital instrument cluster. The Svartpilen 401 is a Scrambler type bike, while the Vitpilen 401 is a cafe-racer. Both models are expected to be powered by KTM's 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 43 BHP and is expected to be offered with a 6-speed gearbox.

Bajaj Auto has also announced its plans to launch electric vehicles (EV) including electric 2-wheelers in the Indian market by 2020.
