Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa crosses 2 million cumulative sales

In 2022, Maruti Suzuki launched the Grand Vitara and soon the Jimny and Fronx will also join the brand’s Nexa portfolio.

Maruti Suzuki Nexa has announced a new milestone of 2 million cumulative sales.

India’s largest carmaker launched the Nexa retail channel in 2015. The S-Cross and Baleno were the first two models that were initially sold through Nexa. In 2017, the carmaker introduced the Ignis and Ciaz, followed by the XL6 a year later.

In 2021, Nexa achieved the 1.5 million sales milestone. Last year, Maruti Suzuki launched the Grand Vitara and soon the Jimny and Fronx will also join the brand’s Nexa portfolio.

There are over 440 Nexa showrooms across 280+ cities. According to the company, nearly 50% of its customers are under 35 years of age. NEXA is also said to have contributed to more than 20% of total Maruti Suzuki sales.

Tata Punch sales cross the 1.75 lakh unit mark in India

The Tata Punch is positioned below the Nexon and is priced from Rs 5,99,900 (ex-showroom).

The Punch was launched in October 2021. It is positioned below the Nexon and is priced from Rs 5,99,900 (ex-showroom).

The Punch is powered by the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is offered in Tiago and Tigor. It produces 84 BHP and 113 Nm and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

Tata Motors also has the Punch CNG in the pipeline. The CNG version was showcased at Auto Expo 2023 and is expected to enter the market later this year.

The Punch CNG uses the same 1.2-litre engine. When running on CNG, the output drops to 76 BHP and 97 Nm. The car comes equipped with two small CNG tanks of 30-litres each.

Tata Motors achieves 5 million production milestone

The last 1 million cars were produced in a span of 2.5 years.

Tata Motors has achieved a new production milestone with the rollout of the 5 millionth car. The company celebrated the achievement with a 50-lakh formation using Tata’s Forever range of cars and SUVs.

Tata Motors achieved the 1 million production mark in 2004, the second million in 2010 and reached the 3 million mark in 2015, and rolled out its 4 millionth car in 2020. The last 1 million cars were produced in a span of 2.5 years.

To celebrate the production milestone, Tata Motors has rolled out a celebratory campaign for customers and employees in India. Tata Motors will deck up its dealership and sales outlets with branded outfits and the signatory mnemonic to mark the milestone. The carmaker will continue month-long celebrations across its manufacturing locations and regional offices.

Maruti Eeco sales cross the 10 lakh unit mark

The Maruti Eeco is said to dominate the van segment with a market share of over 94%.

Having achieved a new sales milestone, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco has become the highest-selling van in the country. The carmaker has sold over 10 lakh units of the Eeco in India since 2010.

The Maruti Eeco is available in 13 variants, including 5-seater, 7-seater, Cargo, Tour and Ambulance. The model is said to dominate the van segment with a market share of over 94%.

It took 8 years for Maruti Suzuki to sell 5 lakh units of the Eeco, while the next 5 lakh sales milestone was achieved in under 5 years.

The Eeco is available with a 1.2-litre K-series engine that develops 80 BHP @ 6,000 rpm. When running on CNG, the engine’s overall output drops to 71 BHP. The carmaker claims a fuel efficiency figure of 20.20 km/l for the petrol version and 27.05 km/kg for the CNG version.

The Eeco comes loaded with comfort and safety features like reclining front seats and a cabin air filter; along with safety features such as dual airbags, and ABS with EBD.

Ather 450X production crosses the 1 lakh unit milestone

The Ather 450X is manufactured at the company’s Hosur plant.

Ather Energy is celebrating a new production milestone as the company rolled out the 1,00,000th unit of the 450X electric scooter.

The Ather 450X is manufactured at the company’s Hosur plant. The e-scooter maker produced its 25,000th unit in March 2022, while the 50,000th unit was produced in May of last year.

Last month, Ather introduced the updated 450X in the Indian market. The new model comes with a redesigned seat and a 14-litre front storage compartment.

The 2023 Ather 450X also comes with the latest Atherstack 5.0 software, which includes new features such as Auto Hold, a new interface and Vector Maps with live traffic overlays, among others.

Maruti Suzuki posts 2.5 crore cumulative sales in India

The cumulative sales of hybrid and CNG models are said to be around 21 lakh units.

According to a statement released by the Suzuki Motor Corporation, its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki, has achieved cumulative sales of 2.5 crores. The sales milestone was achieved on January 9, 2023.

Maruti Suzuki achieved the 1-crore sales milestone in February 2012. Cumulative sales of the brand doubled by July 2019 before crossing the 2.5 crore mark earlier this month.

Maruti Suzuki offers a wide range of products in the Indian market. These include entry-level cars like the Celerio and WagonR to SUVs like the Brezza and Grand Vitara.

The carmaker also offers a variety of powertrain options, including CNG, mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid. The cumulative sales of hybrid and CNG models are said to be around 21 lakh units.

KTM crosses the 10 lakh unit production milestone in India

KTM's manufacturing base in India serves more than 118 countries.

KTM India has achieved a new production milestone as the 10,00,000th bike rolled off the assembly line at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant.

KTM began producing its bikes at the Bajaj Auto factory around 12 years ago. The 1,00,000th unit rolled off the assembly line in 2014, and in 2020, the company celebrated the 5,00,000-unit production milestone. 

KTM's manufacturing base in India serves more than 118 countries. Motorcycles manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant, are shipped to Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Norway and the United States, among other countries.

KTM entered the Indian market in 2012 with the Duke before launching the RC 390 in 2014. In 2020, KTM introduced its Adventure range of bikes.

1,00,000th MG Hector SUV rolls off the production line in India

MG is gearing up to introduce the Hector facelift, which is expected to go on sale on January 5, 2023.

MG Motor India has reached a new production milestone as the 1,00,000th Hector SUV rolled off its assembly line at Halol, Gujarat.

The MG Hector was launched in 2019 and was the brand’s first offering for the Indian market. The carmaker is now gearing up to introduce the Hector facelift, which is expected to go on sale on January 5, 2023.

The 2023 Hector gets a redesigned chrome grille flanked by slim LED daytime running lights, along with headlamps and fog lights positioned in separate pods on the front bumper. The changes made to the rear include a chrome strip running across the width of the tailgate and ‘Hector’ lettering just below it.

Inside, the 2022 Hector will be equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. More importantly, the SUV will be offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The new Hector will be mechanically identical to the outgoing model. It will continue to use the same 2.0-litre diesel, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrains.

Tata Motors has achieved a new production milestone as its EV production crossed the 50,000 unit mark.

The 50,000th EV rolled out of Tata’s assembly plant in Pune. To celebrate the milestone, the company hosted one of the largest customer drives across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

Following the success of the Nexon EV, Tata Motors introduced the Nexon EV Max with a larger battery pack. More recently, the carmaker launched the Tiago EV, making it the brand’s first sub-Rs 10 lakh all-electric model. Going forward, Tata is focusing on a three-phased architecture approach for EVs and plans to launch 10 models in the next 5 years.

Tata Motors now offers its EV range in 80 new cities and is expanding its network to more than 165 cities across India.

Honda rolls out 2 millionth car from its India plant

The milestone was marked with the rollout of a Honda City.

Honda Cars India has achieved a new production milestone as the 2 millionth made-in-India car rolls out of its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

Honda started producing vehicles in India in December 1997. Today, the brand’s range includes the City, Amaze, Jazz and the WR-V. The milestone was marked with the rollout of a Honda City.

Honda has invested over Rs 10,000 crore in its India operations. The Tapukara plant is spread across 450 acres and has a production capacity of 1.8 lakh units per annum.

Besides catering to the domestic market, the company’s production facility also serves export markets. Currently, Honda exports the City and Amaze to 16 countries across the globe.
