It seems like the launch won't happen this year. A report in today's Business Standard says that the Kite will enter production only in December, at the Sanand plant.

This is one thing which I do not like about them, stupid company never learn, and too slow. Earlier there was a report that it is going to be launched in October and company commenced pre-production. We do not want to see this car becomes sales dud like Bolt and Zest.

Had a chance to drive friend's Bolt last week, this car deserve better sales numbers.

I agree that in Tata's case, it's always too little, too late. But in my opinion, it would be better that Tata take the time to ensure the the product is free of manufacturing and design defects. Tata has always rushed products that have design defects and manufacturing defects to the market and then taken their time to correct them. This is one of the main reasons why the brand has taken a solid beating. No product will ever be completely free of defects but Tata needs to be extra careful - their future hangs in the balance.

IMHO I think they might showcase it in the 2016 auto expo and then launch . They do need some new product to showcase in the auto expo .

Launch of the Nexon, Hexa Automatic & Kite sedan, concept of the X451 hatchback and possibly concepts of the upcoming Q501/502 on the Freelander 2 platform, a rival for the Mobilio on the Manza / Zest platform and something on the Raptor platform for the Sumo replacement and ofcourse yet another Safari refresh. They could have their hands full for auto expo. I suspect they would want to capitalize on the festive season for Kite HB launch than wait for the Auto expo. They badly need a $ spinner. Just my reading..

This car was going to Satara from Pune on Saturday. Wore Bridgestone tyres. Looked like as if loaded with heavy weight in its boot. Was not very quick either.

I thought it was the upcoming Figo until I got ahead of it and didn't find Aston Martin grill.

Thats definitely TATA Kite.

The reg no in your scoop pic MH 14 TC 206 H is a series in which all the Kites were caught testing. Pls find the series in the below pics from TBHP Scoop thread

Could not take a better picture as the windows were rolled up and most have seen how the Kite looks in its shell.

You can see faintly , but i saw clearly the music control knobs as well as the AC knobs had chrome surroundings , also you can see the tweeter on the left side A pillar. Looked like the top end to me.

There are lot of mules being tested these days. Could we expect the launch in the festive season or may be in the february 2016 Auto Expo?

When looked from the rear 3 quarters, it seems to have a glimpse of i10 grand.
And the hatch when looked from rear looks somewhat like the first gen i20 IMO. Did anyone else also observe that? Or am the only one who feels so.

Zest was a good car and should have sold really well. It should have turned around the fortunes of Tata. But for some reason consumers aren't keen on Tata cars. There are so many better options from Maruti/Hyundai which are equally value for money plus you get great service.

IMHO, both the Zest and Bolt are stop gap arrangements to keep reminding people that Tata is also there while the company continues to work on other cars, like the Kite family. the zest family is heavily re-worked vista family so the cost of development would not be very high hence even dismal sales are likely to keep things moving. And let us not forget that the Zest family has succeeded in at least putting Tata in the list of options when an average Joe plans to buy a car. It's all about keeping the brand alive. I do however expect much improved products from them over the next 3-5 years though.
