Re: Spotted a camouflaged car!

This is indeed a good news for us.

"Tata Kite compact sedan to launch soon; may be priced at Rs 4 lakh"

"Tata Motors might have a surprising winner on their hands. The upcoming Tata Kite hatchback will be launched soon and will also have a corresponding compact sedan. According to sources, the Kite Compact sedan could be priced at as little as Rs 4 lakh which could mean that Tata could create an all-new segment in the Indian automotive market.

The Tata Kite compact sedan will be based on the same platform as the hatchback and will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine will essentially be a brand new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit that should make around 85Ps of peak power and about 110Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor on the other hand will also be a new 1.0-litre unit that makes around 70Ps of peak power and about 140Nm of peak torque. We also expect the diesel engine to give upwards of 25kmpl in terms of official ARAI fuel efficiency."

WOW!
I don't see much fun with sedans, compact or otherwise. But if Kite hatchback with 1.0 litre diesel comes under 5.5Lakhs onroad in Bangalore, I may as well exchange my current drive Alto for it. Looks very tempting

re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Tata is known to keep their prices always very competitive (except Bolt which has now been left to die its natural death) and we can expect this kite and its hatch twin to be priced very aggressively.

only hoping that the Kite doesn't have anyover hangs in any form of the Indica. If that is the case I surely believe this will be a winner

re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Tata really needs to get this right on all fronts - looks, perceived and real quality, fuel efficiency, right mix of variants, price, marketing and distribution.

IMHO, Tata should try and do what the Japanese did to the Germans in the luxury segment at the beginning of the 90s - offer a superior product at 70-80% of the price. Given the competition in the market, they definitely need a USP.

Good luck Tata!

Tata Motors seems to be in love with 4 lettered names for their new models (hence not including the Safari)!
Nano, Zest, Bolt, Aria, Hexa, Zica(Kite)

Looks like they broke up with the 6-letter theme, Safari, Indigo, Indica.

Jokes apart, the name Zica seems to be derived as Zest + indICA = ZICA. Tata just cannot let go the Indica shadow from their product line. After all, its the only product which has been giving good volumes to them since inception.

Had read some time back that Tata had registerd "Zica" and "Sway".

Sway seems to be a cool name, had a thing for Sway in 2000 when beauties vanished in 60 seconds!

re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

The CS sedan based on Zica will be named 'Sway'.

Zest + Indica = Zica...seems to be the explanation. However, there is nothing related to Zest, apart from the steering wheel, indicator stalks, and few more bits here and there.

re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Why we need to bother about what 'ZICA' means in Portuguese?

We have a car named 'LAURA' right here in India

But I agree, 'Kite' sounds better than Zica.

re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Why have a name sounding similar to Indica? Kite itself sounds better.

Bolt and Zest sounded better; didn't have any impact on the sales. So I guess Kite or Zica doesn't make any difference in the end.
