1. i would like to know what you think of better speakers at the Alpine/Infinity price point
2. true a high XO "exposes" the peaking but you hear it just the same. a lower XO point would have supressed it beyond audibility. I was trying to be simple in my explantions.

Question: What minimum changes can i make to my setup to make it sound like a live wembley performance? Basically, I want chest-pounding bass, coupled with clear, resonating mids and highs...

Thanks in advance, and Cheers!
BTW, how does 4750 sound with Pioneer 6991. I am planning a similar kind of setup without any Amps or Subs. What abt functions and ergonomics of 4740? How much did u get these for?

Played Eagles and Floyd just now on a drive to Worli Seaface.... it is bliss !!!!

The Blau is a great HU to the amazing performance of the JBLs.

Just one issue... which may lead to my changing the HU too...

it does not tune in to Even Frequencies on FM... dunno whether it is designed that way or am i missing something.

But otherwise I am really satisfied with the combo... thanx to gurus here.

Total cost with B&W including discounts and bargains - 17.7k

Thanks people once again.

shine on .. crazy diamond
Even I like the bermuda for 7.5 k with B&W. can you plz elaborate a bit more on the prob ur facing with it?

The Blau sounds really good. You can actually understand the quality of the sound with proper audio cds and not in lossy MP3s.

Its actually not an issue. I guess i need to reset the tuner setting to European stds to accomodate even frequencies like 91.0 and 94.6 types.

Its there in the manual. Will try the same and update you.

Otherwise no issues.

And you dont need sunglasses for the Blau... its pretty good and simple

Its Typical Understated European Styling.

Geez vivek. would u do this at home. if not then why in the car. a soundstage in teh car is even more diffuclt to achieve. too many speakers will mess it up. stick to the KISS principle.

Navin, Sam, McLern, Aseem, (now) Gunbir, & rest of the team,

I am back with shortlisting the previously shortlisted list :-)

Now I have two otions left out:

1. Car Shringar - Richmond Road
Alpine 9826 11.5 (with B & W)
Boston FS60 - 5.5k
Boston F6 - 3.0k
2 Channel Amp - 3.0k
Total : 23k (If I go for Blau 9.5k, so totally will be down to 21k)

2. Sound Factor - Lavelle Road
Alpine 9830 - 14.5k (No B, only W)
JBL 606e - 5.5k
JBL 636e - 3.5k
Total : 23.5k (If I add 2 channel Amp the total will be 26.5k)

I am liking both the combinations. My doubt is, how the Sound Factor is giving me only Warranty to 9830, which I enquired everywhere else will cost more than that!! Can I believe him?

Sam, the JBL rates are correct? Or I can still ask for discount? ;-)

And I have no plans to disturb the company fitted rear plank in my Swift. So opting for Sub in future is ruled out. Will these configuration is decent enough for the car?

I hope, this will be the last query I have for you. Please pour in as much details as you can.

Selective.

I dont know about Sound Factor's business practices but it seems to me that you are torn between the 9830 and 9826. the 9830 is a nicer unit (though older vintage) than the 9826.
I would strongly recommend an amplifer even that the risk of getting the 9826 or 9827 instead of 9830. you could also mate teh 9826 with the JBLs.

Can you listen to these to speakers (Boston and JBL)? if so which you you prefer? That should allow you to decide. Once you have decided on your speakers get the 9826/27 and an amp. 9K for the speakers, 15K on amp and HU and you are talking under 23K.

If you are getting a 2 channel amp use it for the front.

well both the deals sound pretty good to me..to run the
2nd setup better u will surely need an amp for sure..so all boils down to if ur ready to spend on the 2nd setup with the amp..if yes then go ahead with it..regarding the alpine HU without the bill im not sure..sam said all his products are sold with B&W,not sure about the alpines being sold by sound factor though..he will be in a better position to answer ur question..

There is a setting on the menu that allows you to do that. I am sure of it.

It sounds reasonably good, though the characteristic bass of 6991 is gone once i shifted from single box set-up to MDF tray. Since i'm back to playing GNR and Coldplay these days, I miss the bass. Also, with Sony fronts I've to keep fader control to R5 or more to prevent low-freq distortions.

Feature-wise, 4750 is pretty limited. The internal software doesn't support hi or low-pass filters. All I get is 4-5 equaliser settings. I also miss the ATT button found on most other brands.

I just get a hunch that with or without 4750, we need a decent amp to drive 6991s to their potential. What say, Navin?

Pritam (Sound Factor) is a good guy. He runs a "shop-in-Shop" at our JBL company store in Bangalore. Even though he sells all brands of car accessories (however only JBL speakers), he is governed by our business policies to provide fair practice to all JBL customers. Given that, I'd vouch for him (because I can lean on him lol). My guess is on the Alpine Pritam is offering you a personal warranty.
JBL ofcourse is only B&W. IF you like it, go ahead.
The rates are ok. Seems like he's given you a discount. how did that happen?

Burn Burn Burn!!

Hello Boys,

As some of you know, I could not go to Berlin this year for the IFA show, because it coincided with the av show in New Delhi. So 6 of my JBL colleagues went and they've brought me pictures. I was hurting and burning. Then I thought, why should I burn alone, when I have a forum load of people who will weep too. So i've decided to post a picture a day. Beginning with the JL audio car. Burn now! Burn! For all the wrong reasons
