Installation would cost 1.1k .
They also provide free router if one opts for the yearly scheme.
You should get 120 KB/s download speed on the 1 Mbps plan, and twice that on the 2 Mbps. One advantage is that if something has been downloaded by any other 5net user, it is cached, due to which you get 2-10 mbps download speeds for such files. They also have a hub from where you get upto 100 Mbps (3-10 MB/s download speed). No issues during the rains for me.

Isn't that too slow? 120kbps = 0.12mbps, right?
I'm currently using Vodafone 3G Dongle which is terribly inconsistent when it comes to speed. I get around 0.78mbps download speed & 0.53mbps upload speed. Offcourse this varies most times, it can get as high as 1.5mbps rarely. Their claimed speed is 3.1 mbps.
I guess 5 Net should be better & more consistent than Vodafone!?

however that didn't help.

Even tried Google DNS servers, but no change. Anybody any clue/suggestion?

BTW, I'm on MTNL broadband, with Beetel 450TC1 wifi modem.
What's the speed when you try in your computer? Please visit www.speedtest.net and check the PING time. Changing WEP TO WPA2 doesn't have anything to do with the speed of the connection. WEP and WPA are for the security of your connection.

Try resetting your modem. If the results are the same in your PC and iPhone, please contact ISP. You can try to do a winsock reset in PC by typing netsh winsock reset in command prompt (admin mode). If PC has less PING duration, this has something to do with the iOS update.

They advertise 1 Megabit per second. The download speeds we generally see is in Megabytes, where you divide it by 8. So 1000/8 is roughly 125 KB/s (0.12 MB/s)

If you are checking on Speedtest, you would get ~1 MB/s in their test.

I use Vodafone 3G on a Huawei E8231 Wi-Fi Dongle. As per speedtest.net, my download speed is over 5 Mbps and upload speed is over 2 Mbps in Chennai.

I can watch Youtube videos without buffering.

I have never managed anything closer to 2mbps! Speeds also vary depending on the area.

How much is the actual speed you are getting?. Could you please post a speed test screenshot?. I have tried several times calling their call center to get one from Asianet but they simply are not interested in following up.
Then I thought if this is how the attitude presales then what better it can be after sales. So stopped chasing them.

Also at my place(aluva) they can only offer 12Mbps plan maximum.

Now i am using 8Mbps 2950 plan from BSNL . It shows 5-6Mbps when working properly but that is the not the case always. i have been chasing them to fix the line problems for last two weeks .One cannot depend BSNL for the primary connection. 3G does not work indoors in my home so dongles are out

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Is anyone using the MTNL Fiber plan in Mumbai? http://mtnlmumbai.in/index.php/broad...-the-home-ftth

Have applied for the 3500rs plan same in my office at BKC, does it really give the committed 10mbps upload speed & 50mbps download in the area?

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Recently upgraded to FiON (fiber to home) connection and their speed is pretty awesome (50Mbps and 100GB FUP). But their connection is not yet stable as they are still in deployment mode. Normally there would be a outage once a week for couple of hours (couple of times outage was much more than that though). But when their network is working, I am getting speeds close to 40-45Mbps most of the time. Initially it was around 48-49Mbps. I guess it will decrease further as they are going to add more customers. I would be happier if their network becomes more stable and won't mind a lesser speed (20-30Mbps would be fine actually).
EDIT: Had used ACT connection before but in my new place ACT is not available. But what I liked about ACT was that their upload speed was similar to download speed and it was stable compared to FiON.

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Anyone in Bangalore using Yashtel (Yashtel.in) cable internet ? In the absence of ACT in our locality this seems the only option for higher speeds and better bandwidth.
