From what I know the 80GB does not have the emotion engine of the 60GB model. The HDD in a PS3 is not very hard to change so it is better to go for a 60GB version and if required change the HDD.

no changing the hdd does not void the warranty and neither does installing linux - sony is pretty open to that stuff.

80gb has fewer heating issues as a couple of ICs were combined into one and ofcourse the ps2 backward compatibility chip was taken away and replaced with software emulation for ps2 games (note all games dont work)

Sony have taken this decision as they want to concentrate more on upcoming games and performance vs supporting legacy ps2 stuff. They can only handhold legacy gamers for 1.5 yrs and post that its time to move on and enjoy the new games

Infact YellowDog Linux is the official "other os" for the ps3.

I finally got an Xbox 360 Elite on Monday.

I went looking for Halo version & was surprised to see this in stock.
I was told that these have started shipping to India only recently.

I also got FM2 & Halo3.

I had a long gaming session with the WII and I can understand why it is such a hotseller. The gameplay is just unbelievable. Most of the games designed are purely fun and timepass stuff. The best part is one can learn playing in a few minutes.

you can also take sony's PlayStationPortable, it is also a very good entertaining device, now sony has rebuilt its PSP & new PSP has a TV OUT port in it, now u can watch movies & play games from ur PSP on to ur TV..

Besides the 40gb, all the ps3s can play ps2 games. The 60gb and 20gb versions are the best for playing ps2 games.

However you wont be able to play pirated ps2 games on it and since most ps2 games in India are pirated, I dont see the point.

I bought it in retail store itself. (III i, Banajara Hills). I also saw a piece at Access2Future, Hyderbad Central.
