re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

I am looking for a plasma

Req: 42" Full HD, 2D
Budget: ~ 40K +/- 10%
Preferred Brand: Panasonic

Any suggestions?

I was thinking of P42U30D. 2012 models are out and could not find similar model model.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Please see my earlier post #5444 on page 363 for a summary of Pana Plasmas 2011 range.
-Since your requirement is Full HD, In Panasonic your choices are only UT, ST, VT -series (and all are 3D models, this is a selling point for them to try and have an edge over similar sized LCD & LCD-LED TV's)
-Since you're looking for 42" it will be just UT and ST (VT is available in 50" and 65").
-Since you're budget is about 45K you may be able to get the UT series model if some store has stock otherwise you have to go for ST which will be about 55-60K (I heard even this is becoming difficult to find since 2012 models will be out soon).
Going forward also I don't think they will have 2D Full HD models, sad but true.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Which brand is better Sony or Panasonic ?

i want 32 inch full-hd LED tv.

the ones i saw are Panasonic TH-L 32 E3D (40K) & Sony KLD 32 EX 650 (46K).

as per the sales guy the Panasonic is better than others as most TV brands use their LCD Panels including Sony, is it true?

whats your take on this ?

or should i wait till Diwali for new products & offers?

Whatever you buy, please pick something which has at least 3 or 4 HDMI input ports.
These will help you connect your HD set top box, HD DVD player, Apple Tv someday, PC and gaming stuff etc.

You may want to also consider samsung.

In the little research I ve done these last 2 months ( iam also hdtv hunting for my guest room). I found that Sony's picture, colours and sound was the best, closely followed by samsung and then the new Panasonic Viera etc. just my 2 bits!

I got this in April and very happy with it. 66500 is very high. I got it for around 59500 with a free stabiliser. Check with other dealers as well.

I didn't find any difference between Sony and Panasonic but felt Panasonic was better value as it was slightly cheaper than comparable Sony models.
I think now Samsung has the edge in picture quality and features.

One of the best HDTV's available in the market solely based on picture quality are the panasonic vt50 / st50 plasma's.
I believe the 2012 panasonic plasma models have just been launched in India. Just google and check out the reviews, they are simply amazing.

Vt50 models are expensive and available only in 50inch or above but P42ST50 is probably the best value for money hdtv you can buy among the current gen models.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Can anyone suggest a 20"" LED model other than Samsung please?

LCD on our present Samsung LA40A550 is damaged after about 3 years of limited usage and replacement will cost ăround 40K. I am looking for smaller size as the other one was too big for the room.

A few 42ST30 are still available in Bangalore according to Pana guys. Not sure in which stores - one needs to ask around. None in Brand Shops.

No, there will still be one Full HD no 3D - the U series. There is a U50 now, so I guess that combination will continue.

According to Panasonic, there is no 42ST50 any more. The ST50 series will be 50"/55"/60"/65". Ditto with GT series; VT50 only 55"/65" - shockingly expensive. There is a 42UT50, though, as well as 50/55/60 in UT50.

The major difference between ST50 and UT50 is that UT50 doesn't have NeoPlasma panel (though the panel is G15 now), has 6144 color gradation, and has 2 speaker surround as opposed to the 8-speaker surround sound of ST50.

Most of the new models (ST50, UT50 etc.) are in the Pana warehouses already, just that the bosses are yet to decide and publish the prices. Oh, when ... ?????

There are 2 new Pana LED models coming in - the TH-LxxET50 (active 3D, xx=42 / 47) and the TH-LxxET5 (passive 3D, 4 goggles in box, xx=42 / 47 / 55). The ET5 is already on the wall at Brand Shops, 47ET5 is 1.07L MRP.

There does not see to be any U series, refer VIERA Line-up Comparison (Plasma) | Product Line-up for Asia | VIERA | Plasma&LCD TV | Panasonic Global
As per this lineup 3D starts at XT series which is not even full HD.

Again as per this link ST series -Plasma TV | Product Line-up for Asia | VIERA | Plasma&LCD TV | Panasonic Global there is 42" ST. This has also been confirmed by a member at hifivision.com as to its availability in India.

Nikhil
Nikhil, those are the 2011 models, soon, very soon going to be replaced by 2012 models. Note the last two numerals in the model number: 20 is 2010 model, 30 is 2011 model. The lowest two 2012 models X50 and XT50 are already in the showrooms.

I will do that but are you sure it is the same model because there is another similar model called VIERA TH-L42E3D which retails for around 59900. Yours is 50 Hz or 100 Hz Motion pic pro?

It is 100Hz.Mine is TH-L42E30D and not TH-L42E3D. I went back and checked the bill. The sticker price in the showroom was 60990. I got 3000 less for my old CRT tv exchange and a free stabilizer. So net, I paid 57990. The wifi adaptor was extra.
Check online. You will get an idea of the price.

Seriously dude thanks a lot for the update. Now I am never going to pay 66000 for that T.V. I will look at other stores as well.

P.S: Also isnt this a 2011 model?

Thanks, I missed this ! Also, I could never actually see the U and GT series models at any of the brand shops, they claimed that those were 2010 models that were not avaiable any more, one of the reasons I had to buy the ST30 that was available then.
