No seriously we have something going on here in this thread. We could work out a serious enough discount from Panasonic.

I'm going to start working the phones from tomorrow and try to bring something worthwhile to the table. I hope everyone else also utilizes their contacts and see if something can be done...

If someone is initiating a Panasonic Group Buy, you can count me in for a pair 50" of ST50s. Need one in Bombay and the other in Jamshedpur. Cheers!

Expected to be > 30K. The panels of VT are much better than that of ST, with THX certification and in-built calibration method. And the ST panels are no slouch - they are better than the LEDs currently available.

Spoke with a couple of Panasonic dealers and a person dealing with corporate sales at Pana (Gurgaon office). The long and the short of it -

ST50 series has not been launched as of now. No one was able to give me an idea as to when the same would be available.

GT50 series has been launched and is being offered instead. I can understand that probably they are trying to avoid a situation where ST cannibalizes GT.

Anyways have indicated to the people that we are looking at a group buy for 9+ sets and they have promised to get me quotes for GT.
The moment I get them, I'll post them.

No Problem, I wanted to point out to Shankar that the quality gain is possible only with an AMOLED. I should have mentioned that it's still not commercially available in TVs yet.
AM-OLEDs TVs are in production as of 2012. Only problem is the $10K price tag. It is expected that 2017 will be the break even point wrt LCDs and by 2015 AM-OLEDs will be 50% more expensive than similar sized LCDs.

How do I know ? Been part of the Display industry for several years and know the upper management and engineering team of LG and Samsung's OLED divisions quite well.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Friends, my buying experience become bitter because of Relience Digital. I bought Philips LCD from Reliance Digital as my first wedding day gift to my wife. But I was given a defective one and immediately after the installation it went dead.

1. Reliance digital failed to install the TV on the committed timelines and had to follow up with them to get this done.
2. They sold me the defective piece and after that promised me that they would replace this immediately.
3. Now they are saying they would do it in 48 hours. But I am not sure how much I can believe them.

The lessons learned are -

1. Dont prefer to buy from Reliance Digital as that is full of cheaters.
2. Sales team give you so many promises but ground realities suface after the payments are done. All promises would be void immediately after the purchase and you would become a bakra.
3. One good thing about them is they talk very sweetly.

Reliance only sells. Philips does the install. Talk to Philips, not Reliance. Yes, Reliance will replace once they get the replacement from Philips, so it is better to follow-up directly with Philips.

I also thought the same initially. But the installation is done by the Reliance and also the replacement is also initiated by the Reliance. I have not seen Philips guys anywhere involved in this case. The technical guy is also from Reliance only but not from Philips.
