re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Bought the following plasma tvs this afternoon from one of the Panasonic brand shops in Dilli

2 x 42UT30D @ 45,000/- e.a.
1 x 50ST30D @ 75,000/-

The dealer has 5-6 more of each in stock, in case interested post here and I will provide the necessary contact details.

Also on offer is the 42ST30D @ 61K, can provide contact details for this shop also. The above dealer is offering the same unit @65K but am sure will match the offer for 61K also.

Next in line to be bought is a 42GT50D, approximate time of arrival in showrooms is mid August.

Surprised you found this. I asked around for more than a month in Bangalore around Feb/Mar this year and this was not available so I got the 42ST30D @60k.

That's a pretty good price for the 50ST30.

I have seen the 42GT50 (fantastic PQ) in the Pana brand shop here 2 weeks back - don't remember the price he quoted. This is weird - Panasonic seems to be staggering model releases across India. Maybe they have a logic that works for them.

Just out of curiosity and I google-d this model P42UT30D and one of the first search results pointed to flipkart. On checking inside the page i found the price to be 40,999/- and P50UT30D at 85320/-

Panasonic TH-P42UT30D | Television | Flipkart.com

Online buying can get us good prices? or is there some risk buying such expensive goods online?

Right now the model is out of stock but you can register to be notified when in stock.

With electronic items, I would be concerned of the handling during transportation - esp through courier. I would rather minimize bad handling by getting one from a local store.

One doesn't get good prices online for large electronic items - there is a 10% price difference usually over shops. Unless there are NO suitable shops around at your place, online is not for TVs. Brick and mortar shops give a much better overall deal, and one can bargain.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

What is the word on the Samsung PS51E550D1R?

I stepped in to Coolwell Electrix on MG Road to see if they had the Panasonic 2012 Plasma's and they did not. No pricing information too. I am also against spending over a lac on a television set as my viewing is not so critical. Been saving up for the fifty inch GT series.

What I did see is the Samsung E550 plasma and was very impressed with the picture quality. Though I spent only a minute looking at it, watching Sky HD, I liked the colors, contrast and sharpness. I do not think I need any better. What did surprise me was the Made in India tag. I guess that is how they have priced it so low. 75k. The owners of Coolwell Electrix is know to a good family friend and it will be possible for me to crack a better deal. So should I buy the Samsung?

I put my money down for panasonic P 50 XT50 today . Rs 62 K . 2 3d Glasses included. I have not heard too much about this panel on the forum. Any information will be welcome.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

I believe this panel is mentioned off & on over the last few pages maybe the posts missed your attention. The XT is a HD ready panel and with full HD transmission & media growing by the day, it is there but yet not there. Maybe it sounds harsh but a 50UT30 would have been a better buy at roughly the same price even though XT50 boasts a better contrast but I would rather have better resolution than deeper blacks.

Oy, whom are you scaring, huh?

50VT50 should be ~1.6L MRP. 50GT is 1.38L MRP. The 65s are > 2.3L MRP <gulping>

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Guys, I'm looking to buy a cheap LCD for bed room. How about This???

Requirements are quite simple.
1) 24"+ size
2) LCD / LED is ok
3) Should have HDMI (I mainly use it to connect laptop)
4) Audio - a decent output is sufficient
5) Brand - Anything that could be easily serviced in Chennai
6) Budget - 15k max (may stretch another 2k for 32")

There is a fixed cost to every tv. supervision, set up installation, my time, etc...Time is the most expensive comodity - we all have exactly 24 hours in a day, Bill Gates, you, me, everybody.

Thanks DA, the price is understandable. I paid more for my 46" full HD TV in 2006. Would I like to pay less, ofcourse. I seek value like everyone else. Which is why I love group deals. Everyone wins.

Besides a good quality product will serve you well. In the time I had my 46" LCD a friend has gone thorough 2 (on his 3rd) cheaper LCDs (each costing in the range of 1L). In the 8 years I have kept my Skoda he has gone thorugh a Hyundai Elantra Tornado and Corolla Altis I suspect his total cost of ownership might be same if not more than mine.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

The Toshiba is certainly good.
Also, check the VU brand from Croma or the Koryo Brand from E Zone or the ReConnect Brand from Reliance Digital.
You should get what you are looking for.
