re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

^^^Congrats! Do give your opinion/review of the tv once you've checked it out.

Good that it was packed well. Someone I know bought a TV from Tradus and they do nothing in the name of any additional packing at all... just Toshiba's box. Not that it caused any apparent issue - there was no sign of damage anywhere on the box. Apparently Gati handled it well. But octroi had to be paid, which kinda sours the deal. Big or small items from Tradus have all been delivered with no additional packing, save a poly bag.

Thanks dude.

+ves
1) VFM package
2) LCD clarity is good (IMO almost same as my Samsung & Sony Bravia)
3) Sound quality is pretty decent (more than expected, after reading few horror stories in many other forums)
4) Handy remote (this is sometimes a negative too)

-ves
1) Not too many features
2) No USB
3) Only 1 HDMI port, that too on the rear (no other side ports)

After understanding all the pros and cons bought it, since my usage is very limited. Yet to check other features. Will keep you updated.

Also I liked the Sharpa Aquos Quattron at Vijay ( 62" IIRC). The brightness was nowhere near Sony's but the image sharpness was much better and the colour were more realistic.

Overall I would stick to VT30 followed by Sony HX or Sharp Quattron depending on the kind of picture you like.

How many do we need to go ahead with this group buy process?
Hi, Hope there is scope for me to join this group. Am interested to pick the 42ST50 or 42GT50 if this can be delivered in Mumbai/Thane. Let know. Thanks

IF Panasonic is involved, this shouldn't be a problem. If distributor or a shop, we might have to pay a little extra for shipping.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Can we not look at the latest series of 3D with HD in 42 inches?

I would also want to buy; if we could get a better deal from what is being offered by the showrooms

Cheers

Ok these are the prices I got:
Panasonic 65VT30 Rs. 284000
Panasonic 65ST50D Rs. 269000
Sony 65HX925 Rs. 335000
LG 72LM9500 630000 (outside my budget for a TV)

Which should I get VT30, ST50 or the HX925 or something else? I will have to order by Friday 10th August. We intend to move into the new apartment from August 16th-20th so need delivery by the 14th.

Also I need a small TV (max dimensions 25.5" wide, 18" high) I am considering 2 Samsung models UA26EH4800 and UA26EH4000. The later seems a perfect fit. Is there another model that would be a better option?

Thanks mate! Do update.

What I'd really like to know is if its worth buying an LED over LCD. The price difference is very large. Is the picture quality really that much different? I doubt it.

Can anybody who has compared critically please comment?

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Guys, Any idea about the street price for Panasonic TH-P50ST50D?

My cousin is keen on buying it. He has seen the TH-P50ST30D and they quoted him 100k for it at a shop in Cochin.

Flipkart shows the price as Rs.101199/- but it shows out of stock. Infibeam retails it at Rs.1,02,733/-.

I got the 50ST50 for 102K around 3 weeks back in Delhi. 100k for ST30 is way too high, you can get it for around 78-80K.

The street price should be around 100K or below depending on the location and your bargaining power.

There is a Home theater free at the moment.

I liked what I saw in the 65VT series here in Ahmedabad. But Sony HX925 is brilliant too. It depends on what you want it for?

From what I've read online and seen in a few stores, if you're going over 30", then it should be a LED, otherwise for a smaller size LCD should suffice. For 30 or so inch, get a full HD LCD, that'd serve you much better

90k is a good price.
Anything less than that is a bonus.

The difference would be obvious only when you play original content on Bluray disk or media player. You will just see a nice (maybe slightly brighter) picture if from Sat HD or DVD. One cannot differentiate between a Sony 750 to an 850 (both LED back-lit) to a 925 (LED matrix I think). PS3 playing CGI or BD would show some difference, especially in the dark end.

Must be slip of finger on keyboard. Otherwise, all those waiting for ST50 here will feel like simians with a left-over banana skin.
