re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

That is a very good price indeed but I have my doubts. Does not make sense for an incoming model to be discounted to this extent.

Actually the 50ST50 is the incoming model. The way the pricing works in this case with free HT is that, the HT alone is 16K and the final asking price with free HT is 109909 here in chennai.

Less HT the price could be somewhere around 93K. This is like the MRP. The margin is still what the dealer decides and they can play around this number. Good bargain can get this TV at 85 -93 without the HT.

85 still has a good mark up and with multiple orders you are consolidating the final margin for the dealer.

Viveks - He was ready to play around 109909 and was ready to give it to me for 105.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Hello Brothers:

I am looking at 42ST Series and 42UT series. The quote that I have received for them respectively are 72 K INR and 61 K INR for 30D. Please let me know if I should go ahead with the 2011 (30 D) or save up for 2012 (50 D) abd if there is likely to be substantial difference in PQ and SQ.

VW2010, did you check the brandshop as well, what do you recommend Viveks or Brandshop?

Best,
Projjal

My bad! The HT is available with the ST50 and not ST30. The very fact that they are giving HT's along with a "just released" product is quite surprising. 85K may be a real offering after all..

Could it be that based on the sales data for ST30 they are hedging!? We are still some time away from Diwali and round about that time the freebies should increase only..!!

Brandshops are costly. In chennai if your model is available in Croma or Viveks you can get a good deal

Viveks has a 1947 offer where you pay 1947 and take the TV and pay the rest in 0% instalment for 11-18 months. We were actually impressed with that deal except the model was not available.

Panasonic does not have the stock. Its sad that such a wonderful TV is actually losing customers because of lack of stock.

there is not much 3D content available and IMHO it does not make sense to go for one at this time.

for your decision of going with Plasma. I bought a Samsung 46" LCD in 2009 to replace a 60" Rear Projection TV, got fed up with bad refresh rate, did a lot of research and bought a LG 42" plasma an year ago; no issues so far and awesome picture quality - so much better than LED/LCD that at least 6 of my friends bought Plasmas after watching HD cricket on my plasma.

THe difference in price is exactly what you will pay for that BD player. And the difference is you get the BD player as well as the 3d enabled TV.

To me this is a no brainer if the difference is only 10K

If i have to sell my sony bravia 40" nx500, what would be a fair price to ask?

Its currently not in warranty and is close to 2 years old. The upgraded(as some say) version known as nx520 looks exactly the same and costs 53-55k in the market.

I had bought this tv for 55k/- I am selling it as i want to buy a plasma tv (panasonic).

This magazine is listing 2 year old models (Panasonic _____20D) which are not even available in the retail market. They are obviously not abreast with the market. I would not entirely trust the rest of their content.

Should be, considering that it is just 1 step less than the ST50 model many of us are after. If you are not so worried about price, you should check out the 42GT50, which is 1 step better.
As compared to the ST50, the UT50
- Has the same basic panel, but slightly lesser native contrast (4mil:1 <> 5.5mil:1) and no Infinite Black Pro filter panel
- No built-in wi-fi (big deal, it has a RJ45 for LAN, and USB for Wifi dongle)
- Has 2 HDMI inputs v/s 3 (unlike Samsung and LG, Panasonic as HDMI ARC)
- Has no 3D goggles in the box (please check, that's what the specs say) - though one can use any brand 3D goggles with it, not just Pana
