re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

@mac187

Budget decides the model. My favorite now is the 8 or 7 ES series from Samsung for LED.

The ES8000 Series costs almost the same as the 750series from Sony @55inch. Too many P&C to identify a TV>

After weeks i a finally torn between two models.

The panasonic 50ST50 and Samsung E550. Imagine the number of options you have when you say LED.

Give us more for some decent suggestions.

Bangalore guys,
Panasonic 50ST50 for 85k, without the free home theater from brand showroom. We can better the deal if its a group buy
Stock will reach end of the month.

For the group buy in bangalore (if at all). Has anyone tried barons on SP road. He's an authorised distributor for many brands and being so the price for tv's as discussed as above would be much lesser than the brand shop prices. Just my two cents. Besides he sends home staff/personnel from the city head office of whatever brand you buy for installation at your residence.

Since the TV will be bought in Saudi, budget is on the avg-high side

However, 50" is a over kill for my place. As per my calculation, 42"/46" should be good enough. I am not interested in 3D either.

LG 72LM9500 630000 (outside my budget for a TV)

Which should I get VT30, ST50 or the HX925 or something else? I will have to order by Friday 10th August. We intend to move into the new apartment from August 16th-20th so need delivery by the 14th.

Also I need a small TV (max dimensions 25.5" wide, 18" high) I am considering 2 Samsung models UA26EH4800 and UA26EH4000. The later seems a perfect fit. Is there another model that would be a better option?

I liked what I saw in the 65VT series here in Ahmedabad. But Sony HX925 is brilliant too. It depends on what you want it for?

Settling between ST and VT is more of a features vs. performance comparo. YOu need to decide for yourself.
Mumbai based retailer is quoting 42ST50 at 81K. what say, do i take the plunge?
Am eager to buy one, but the reviews at forums by owners of st50 and GT50 issues and replacements made is worrying.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

I have zeroid on the Samsung Plasma E470/43 inch..Like the Natural colour of Plasma compared to LCD/LED'S. Also find the Plasma more Value for money than the latter (Just my personal opinion) Got a quote of 36k from a local store here..Will Appreciate any suggestions /feedbacks from fellow BHpian's here :-)

I am in as well. I am going to check the deals in Chennai and see if they can offer such a deal here as well.

Its a good tv, have it for the past two months and no burn in/ IR issues at all!! pleas note, my family too uses the tv(most of the time) and they dont pay attention to those black bars, leaving static tv logos etc, till now no problem. Only issues will be reflection. At first it used to be a pain even with the covered tube lights(semi transparent covering over them) but now we kind of got used to it.Just make sure you dont have bright lights directly infront of the tv. If you still see reflection, dont get worried you will automatically get used to it!

In its price range no led/lcd(higher models too) or even plasma comes close to it

Regards

kpzen, I hope you did not mean it the other way around, what with the 50 series having superseded the 30.

Regarding the price for the 50ST30, I did post regarding buying one last month for 76K from a local Panasonic brand shop here in Dilli, most other guys were quoting 84K.
50ST30 can be had (in Delhi) for a price on the right side of 70K with a home theatre from panasonic.

Been there and done that. There is a strange lethargy that afflicts the Panasonic employees. Their answers are late and not always correct. I spoke to a couple of senior people at Gurgaon but to no avail.

85K for 50ST50 is a very good price. I was not able to get the same in my negotiations. Please check once again as in Delhi the Panasonic home theater is only available with the 50ST30.

Now about the group buy - The dealer in Delhi has had detailed discussions with people at Panasonic. For the last 10 days the dealer was not committing as the deliveries all over the country were proving to be an issue. Now they have been able to convince Panasonic to arrange for local deliveries in the cities of our choice through their dealer network.

So let us review where we stand on the group buy once again. In case we are all still there we could take this matter forward.

Obviously this will be subject to Robin's feed back re the quote of 85K he recd for 50ST50. That is a much better deal than what I have been able to wrangle.... I'm repeating myself now!

I am going to wait for Robin feedback as well. I was sold on e550 if not for the above deal.

78 for e550 while its 85 for 50st50. I am sticking with 50st50 and can delay my purchase, as this tv is even better than the e8000 series of samsung.

@Rabin, we are waiting for your confirmation and we will all be happy to give your delaer a good business.
