No reason to not recommend them. Owned a Plasma TV and refrigerator and both were great. I know the refrigerator has hit the 10 year mark and still works as its with a close friend.

For similar money, I'd just go Sony or Panasonic.

Got the response from Jeeves stating spare parts unavailable and the only option is to accept the refund or use TV with the faulty line across horizontally.
  • Purchase price: Rs 36999/- ( Vu Pixelight 55 inch Ultra HD 4K LED)
  • Depreciation value ( mentioned that the calculation has been mentioned in the Jeeves contract T & C): Rs 7399.80/-
  • Final Value to be refunded: Rs 29,599.20/-
I had paid Rs 3499 towards the extended warranty and purchased the TV in May 2019. Mixed emotions to the situation and glad that the extended warranty was taken.

Now, what next in 55 inches non smart TV ?

If you are going for Panasonic be aware that they have not been active in bringing their global models to India that support 4K (both across LED and OLED).
I did purchase a Panasonic recently and pretty happy with its performance.

I would rather go for a newer TV in some other brand.
So the backlights had gone bad. LG was charging 7000 for replacing it. I got it replaced by an independent technician for 3000 with a 6 month guarantee.
Let's see how long the TV works before the next problem with the TV.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

I purchased Sony KDL-50W800B (50” Inches) in 2014. Served all these years faithfully. It went kaput after a power surge. Sony India Techinician confirmed to be motherboard failure & costs 9k for the new one. Agreed & placed an order. Received a call yesterday from the service centre as the board is not available in India

Instead, they are offering me KD-55X7500H @ 25-30% discount in exchange of the existing 6 year old unit. I respect Sony India for that : retaining old customer.
However, I don’t want to spend another 40-50k for the new one. I would rather spend 10k to get it fixed.

Does anyone know a reliable TV mechanic in Bangalore who can fix this? I’m also open to source the motherboard anywhere in India/online & get it fixed.

Kindly advise!

We bought a Sony KDL 32 NX500 in 2011. The LCD TV with Samsung panel and Sony hardware. After serving for good 6 years it developed lines on the screen. A mechanic replaced the T-Con board for Rs4000 and it served for another 2 year before everything died.
This time I opened it myself with the help of a friend who is good at TV repairs. It was identified that the power module was not working and a chip was replaced. Still no life on the TV. So sent it to him for experimenting without keeping any hopes on it. He did a deeper dive and located a problem with the motherboard and confirmed that it was not worth any time spending on debugging the motherboard.
Instead he came up with an idea. Be purchased an universal TV motherboard , hid it inside the TV box, wired it to the T-Con board, installed the Sony compatible software and all good now. Works like a new TV now. He assured that the panel is good and will be fine for another 5 years. Paid him 2500Rs for the universal TV motherboard and 2500 as the charges.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

Is there any reasonable chance to get a deep discount on an LG 77 inch OLED? I won't mind a C9 or a B9.

The lowest I see is 5.68 lakhs for the C9 on TataCliq. What I can afford is like 70% less than that

I checked few tvs in person in shop. Viewing angle is something very important for me. Could check lg oled, sony 8000h and 9000h, lg nanocell and samsung q70 series. Nothing beats lg cx among these for viewing angles. Could not check samsung q95t to compare as it was not there on display.

Also lag in fast motion seems least in lg cx among this and it was really bad on sony 8000h. Othewise picture quality of sony 8000h is very good from front viewing and was just next to lg cx in picture quality. I tried few cricket and football channels to compare.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

A basic, simple question guys and a newbie on this:

Recently bought a UHD LED TV. Also upgraded to Tata Sky HD receiver box. Now all the non-HD channels are of mediocre quality. Is this how it is in HD world, that only HD Channels will be off superior quality and all the non-HD ones would go for a toss?
