Sure you got a particular subject in mind. I got the S90 because my wife stole my 870 (which she did becuase her Panny FX7 died on her) and I got a bit tired carring a SLR kit. Most of my pics are of machines at work.

Here is a pic using the S90. The camera in the pic is a Canonet QL17 with a 45mm F1.7 lens. I have reduced this pic to 20%.

Thank you very much sir! I have something precise in mind, it's to do with the colors/smoothness at 100%. 'am traveling at the moment, will post a couple of examples for comparison as soon as I get back.

Digital Camera for less then Rs. 10,000

Hi, I have a budget of Rs. 10,000 to buy a digital camera. I dont have any fancy requirements. Just a simple digi cam to take photos of functions, holidays etc.

I have shortlisted:
1) Olympus fe-5020/5010
2) Nikon s230

Can you please give me your personal opinions about the above two cameras. If you have any other suggestion then please do let me know.
Thank you.
Regards-Anuj.

Hi Anuj,

Any reasons for giving Canons a skip ? Canon A1100 IS is a great camera for your budget. Apart from it is not a wide angle lens, there is very little to grouse.

yep it is. infact in videos you can see the rich greenery clearly: the moment you capture the picture the colours vanish/become dull. is there something like running-in time for these cmaeras.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I picked up a Panansonic FZ35 (grey market piece) yesterday at Burma Bazaar, Bangalore for 19K. Its a made in Japan piece and the salesguy Vinod (an elderly guy) was very helpfull. I was following up on this for the past one week with him and finally when fresh stocks arrived on Monday I picked it up immediately.

Close contenders were the Canon SX20IS and Sony HX1. I also picked up a Transcend 16GB SDHC Class 6 card for Rs.1950 along with the camera. I think this is the best superzoom camera available right now in the sub 20k category. This camera rocks!!!!

Guide please

Hi friends,
Need some advise related to buying a degital camera.

The camera is for my sister, so has to be compact easy to use and fun to own.

I myself use my age old Canon S1IS (3.1 Megapix 10X Optical Zoom) and very happy with it. I would have easily given her my camera but her requirements are clearly different.

Being a fan of Canon, I have zeroed down on the following piece and hope u guys can give me your gut feel about the same. I am open to consider other brands like sony, Nikon as well. Dont want to go for Samsung, Hitachi, Olympus etc.

I am in UK right now and plan to buy it here and get it back to India.

Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your inputs.

Looking for camera. Cant find anything that stands out.

Specs.
28-500mm+ (20x)
Some Manual controls (Aperture, Shutter, Exposure)
Flip LCD
Li-ion battery (AA batteries dont last very long with flash)
2.5fps+ with flash
killer IQ (comparable to Canon SX1 or Panny FZ35)
the ability to add a flash will be nice but not nesscarily required.

Application:
portable wide-long range zoom for fun family outings (indoors and outdoors) where a SLR kit is way too cumbersome. It might on some occasions supplement my Canon S90 and/or my wife's F70EXR/Canon HF10 combo.

In short if the F200EXR from Fuji had a flip LCD and a 20x zoom (instead of 14x) it'd be the top contender. Current top contenders are the Sony HX1 (uses propreitory memory card) and the Canon SX1 (uses AA battteries). Anyone use the Oly 570/590UZ? (dpreview threw this one up).

Hi, I recently bought Olympus 590UZ. Its a really good camera. The 26x zoom is kind of useless unless you keep the camera on tripod or put it on some support. It has image stabilizer as well and manual controls as well.

Night photography is not up to the mark as the image quality hampers a bit. Trust me this problem is with all the superzooms. In day light this camera is brilliant. It produces almost all the colors in a natural way. It suffers a small chromatic abbr. but its not at all bad either. I am very happy with this camera. I bought it for 21K in Pune with B&W and ha this is along with 2 nights stay in 3 star hotel across few cities

Hey thanks a lot. I was considering the Oly 570 but it's fps is terrible. the 590 is supposed to be faster but does it have a flip LCD like the SK1 or HX1?
