In that the lock button on top doesn't work sometimes. As I brought it abroad, i don't have indian warranty. I know this is a minor issue but bangalore guys can you recommend a repair shop who is specialised for repairing iphones...because I dont trust the local service people as its a brand new phone.

Not even a single scratch is there, and I'm selling the iPhone as i want to upgrade to 5s

Note from Mod : Please type in full words and avoid SMS language (eg. gr8, tht, abt) on Team-BHP. Thanks.

Hi, please let me know the cost once you are done with the repairs. I am facing the same issue here in Delhi.

Nope! the 4S does not have airdrop. It is available 5 onwards only. But I heard there was a jailbreak tweak that lets you do that via BTStack.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Does anybody know when the iPhone 6 would be out? My father was planning to buy Samsung's S5 but someone suggested that iPhone 6 should be out by Sep-Oct'14 and it would be worth the wait so any idea on the timeline?

Though there are speculations that this time iPhone 6 will be around June, I would say the launch may not go beyond fall this year. If you had noticed earlier generations were released in June but off-late (to be precises starting from 4S) all models were released in September.

Cheers!

Re: The iPhone Thread

Question on the 5S - which one is easy to maintain, space grey or silver? So far I have been using black phones, thinking of a change this time. Thank you!

Silver is easier to maintain than black. The black iPhone 5,5s get scratched easily.

It depends on how you wish to use.
The phone colour doesn't matter if you would be using in an enclosed protection cover.
On the other hand if you would like to use the phone just with screen protectors again you can get scratch resistance screen covers.
I'm using a slate (black) colour iPhone 5 since 2012 with just scratch resistance cover on both the sides (personally I don't like my phone wrapped on another enclosure, phone will lose its charm).
There are not even one scratch till today but then you need to spend close to INR 1500.

Cheers!

Thanks for the responses. I normally use the phone as you mentioned - protection film on both sides with no case/pouch. And so far, it has always been black (until the 5). Gold is a definite No for me, and wifey says white/silver looks a bit girly. Will check both options in person again and decide

Even if iPhone 6 is not coming, Galaxy S5 is not a particularly good option. If your father is not a geek, an iPhone with its ease of use will be the best option. My father has a Galaxy S3 and I have to check the phone every now and then because he complains of slowness. If Android is what your father is interested in, go for Nexus 5. I have one and it is an incredibly good phone for the price and it does not skimp on any features software or hardware to get to that price.

I guess iPhone comes with an international warranty and you can easily get it replaced in bangalore. My friend got his iPad replaced from bangalore which was purchased in Malaysia at apple showroom.

Depends on how busy they are and the extend of your repair. They operate from an apartment in Koramangala and we are not allowed to go inside. Mine was an old iPhone and hence did not mind giving it to them for repair.

Apple doesn't give International warranty on iPhone 5 or older. It started providing international warranty only with iPhone 5s and 5c. However, all iPads and Mac books come with international warranty.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Did any one face the "no sim card installed" error? I bought an iphone 5s and every morning after full charge - it shows no sim card installed. first, i got it solved by restarting. today, i had to open and close the sim tray to make it work.

Better solution to this?

PS: i had the regular sim 'cut' to shape (with a sim cutter thingy) and used it in my phone.

I have seen this error in my iPhone 4S and I got it working after the same steps you followed. Mine was also a regular sim cut to micro.

Get a Nano sim?

Cutting a regular to micro works much better then cutting it for a Nano size
