Re: On Wi-Fi & Routers

2.4gHz has its uses: slower but longer reach.

I bought the high gain one with Antenna below:

But you can also buy a Nano one below if the antenna obstructs:

I always suggest to buy the latest and would still suggest the Wifi6 models.

This is my pick right now: https://www.amazon.in/TP-Link-Deco-X...59&sr=8-1&th=1

Have recommended to quite a few and all are happy with it.
Also the same recommendation on Toms Guide. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-me...view-5191.html

AX1800 is the unit. Thank you. This router buying thing is a freaking maze. If one has a 2200 sq foot home, guess the 2 pack 4000 sq ft coverage unit should well and truly suffice?

Seconded! I also installed a couple of DECOs in my 2.5 floor house and I have full coverage everywhere right from my terrace to the lawn & porch, and everywhere in between. Superb product.

Buy the 2 pack and see. The 1 pack is same price so even if you need a 3rd just get it later on to eliminate all dead zones.

The best part about the Deco is you can buy a single unit and configure as satellite.

In Netgear Orbi satellite and main is different units and not interchangeable. Worse is you can't add satellites later on.

This one is not WiFi 6 , I think you mentioned WiFi 6 adapter. With recent adapters, even 2.4 GHz will be faster then 5 GHz on this adapter (433 mbps is theoretical max @ 5GHz on this one).

Re: On Wi-Fi & Routers

I got the amazing Tenda router with ACT. Range is the best (covers 2,500 Sq Ft...nook and corners...through walls etc), so is speed. Airtel gives some junk

Re: On Wi-Fi & Routers

I’ve got a Jiofobre connection, the main router doesn’t seem to have good coverage so went ahead & got the mesh extender from Jio. However it seems to not function very well with a wireless connection if there are a couple of room doors in between the routers! A waste of money! Got to get wiring done to the other room too for better results. Ending up with 3 routers for a 2100 sq ft home to get full coverage! Wish there was a better way of dealing with this issue.

Insane man. So you don't need a range extender or mesh network?

Awesome. Looks straight from the movie "Transformers".

Spectranet has given me DLINK DIR-825 and it works really well.

I guess small ISPs give better router than Airtel.

Re: On Wi-Fi & Routers

I have to apply for a new ACT connection anyway. Maybe will wait and trial it out if they give this TENDA router and then decide if I need a mesh network.

Even a half-decent TP-Link router would have sufficed in this regard. The mesh extenders from Jio are substandard.

This guy has a method to extend WiFi range from the Jio router. Perhaps it will help you.
