Although software is not the discussion here, i absolultely hate the android on sony. They have so much bloatware on the phone. Sony has recently announced android 5.0 on xperia Z, so thats a positive.

Android version doesn't matter too much!

Suggestions are welcome!
You haven't mentioned your budget but the screen size preference narrows your options down to phones under 10,000.
I'd say Moto E is a safe bet but it hasn't got a great camera. After owning a Redmi 1s, I wouldn't recommend the Redmi 2. It isn't really reliable and the battery, which is quite pathetic in the Redmi 1s, hasn't seen a major bump in the Redmi 2.

If you are looking for a phone with a really good camera and are willing to spend over 10,000, the you can look at the Sony Xperia M2.
Otherwise the best phone around the 4.5" screen size is the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact at 35k

I guess Sony Xperia Z1 it should be below 25K. But at 25.7K I can also see Samsung Galaxy S5 available on ebay.

I recommended the Z1 because the Z1-Z3 sensors are quite decent in low light - for pictures of my son indoors, it had acceptable quality even without OIS.

Get a used 1020 then?

The Apple iPhone 5s comes in fifth, which is very impressive considering the competition. The iPhones were always well-rounded rather than heavily skewed towards one discipline (like the Lumia 1020 is). The 8MP stills are good, but a bit behind the times when compared to 13MP / 20.7MP / 41MP shooters. In several areas it actually beats the previous two phones and in the daylight its videos match those of the Lumia 1020. Finally, low-light performance is pretty decent and the panorama is one of the best.
You can get the LG G2 (with OIS, no less!!) in 24500 new. get that maybe?

Forget all of the above:
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/sams...hite/922485437 26k The S5 has a pretty decent camera. Worst case - root and put CM?

@Samurai,

This was old article. The newer one points towards Iphone as the best on phone camera. Note 4 has a better usability from that camera.

S6 camera is supposedly faster with faster aperture.

The budget is around ₹25K, so S6 or iP6 or N4 doesn't come into picture.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Continuing on my search for the next latest & greated flagship.

I had almost finalized Nexus 6. But when I checked it in flesh, its just way too big. I am used to Note 2 for last 2.5 years, but Nexus 6 is even bigger and worst, its wider. I won't be comfortable with such a huge phablet (-> tablet).

So since Nexus 6 is out of the picture, I am kind of left with 3 options:

1) Note 4
2) LG G4 (Releasing end of April)
3) HTC One M9 (Thank God they got a normal 20 mp camera and got rid of that silly ultra-pixel non-sense)

I read so many reports of Moto X's glass cracking and the replacement costs 21,000/- Otherwise, I had looked at Moto X as one of the candidates, for a while.

S6 & S6 Edge are out due to their sky-rocketed price. What were Samsung guys smoking while deciding on the price?

Any other suggestion besides the 3 options mentioned above?

Even S5 retails around 35k I think. Are you getting it for around 25k?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Samurai.

Look no further than S5. This is a very good phone. If you can stay with 4.4.4 you battery life is never seen before in Samsung. 4.5.x does not seem to be optimized yet.

Go for S5. Its top of the line before I6 and S6.

My current fone is S5 and can say its the same feeling you got if you had owned a S2. S3/S4 were not much of an upgrade. S5 is definitely the best of the Samsung before S6(I have used S6 as a test device and can say that fone is a different beast altogether).

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have an htc One (M7) from Sprint (I was on CDMA those days), and the one is brilliant. My son had to go away from RCom since there was zilch signal in Fortis Gurgaon. So he had to go GSM but still got a good deal on Sprint One from our regular supplier and ended up with running it on GSM only. These are a tad slower than the regular M7's since they used a dual core processor and not a quad core. htc is addictive, one you get hooked that is where you stay. My wife has an old Desire X and my d-i-l a Dsire 820.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My phone got upgraded from 5.0.1 to 5.1

Very satisfied with the Nexus 5, save for two issues, size & battery. Any worthy replacement on those two counts? I ideally would want a phone in 4.5" to 4.7" screen with better battery than Nexus 5, else on all other counts, the Nexus wins.

Samurai...is it the 3G or 4G model?
I paid 37k for the 4G model in November, but the phone is awesome, different internals compared to the 3G model!
