I disagree. My wife's S4 has been running absolutely fine on 5.0.1. Infact i am cursing Samsung for not releasing 5.x for my precious Note-2.

Colour management in the Micromax camera is disastrous and the OS keeps crashing. Spice Dream-Uno is running without a hitch. But a friend upgraded his and is not happy. It seems to lag a bit while switching between apps.

I hope that helps. Cheers!

I noticed that [a] Micromax service place is just near the backside of my house: I wish I had considered their phones!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I was looking for a 4G phone with a screen size of atleast 5.5 inch.

Under the budget of 15k, i came across Zenfone 2(HD screen version) by ASUS and Honor X by Huawei.

More inclined towards ASUS, but read a lot of online reviews complaning about the long charging time and frequent call drop issue.

Anyone having first hand experience with ASUS/Honor ?

Any other worthwhile alternatives ?

My phone is running 5.1. Earlier it was on 5.01, then 5.02, some minor issues in 5.01, but that is it.

Runs fine, battery has improved, no issues.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Folks,

Anyone used redmi2 and Lenovo A6000+? Which is better? need to gift it to close family relative of wife, so lag-free behavior is priority. I know redmi1s was quite decent but on specs, A6000+ looks like a slightly bigger better version of the redmi at a very similar price?

Please advise asap since sale is due on Tuesday 2pm.

No idea about the Lenovo, but I would highly recommend the Redmi2. A member in our family owns one (we also own a Redmi1s and a Redmi Note) and we're very happy with all Mi devices.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I see Grand 2 duos charging issue with adapter it takes around 20+ hrs for full charge and USB it does faster comparatively. It is running on 4.4.2 version, heard this has lot of issue with charging etc. any idea when new version of android will be available to overcome this.

If you can stretch your budget a bit, you can consider OnePlus One. Xiaomi Mi4 is another contender, although not of 5.5 inch.

I initially thought of Honor X, but stayed away due to the issues reported by users related to low call volume and less internal memory.
Reports on Asus claim of low battery backup. (Courtesy: Reviews on Flipkart)

My Sprint htc One (M7) has been running 5.0.2 with sense 6.0 for quite some time. No issues whatsoever, and battery life is far longer. Unfortunately, this may be the last update from htc for this model.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I need a stable Android phone run few apps. Picked up Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G from Mobile Store for Rs 9,999. The price is same as on Amazon or Flipkart. MIUI interface has less of bloatware found in Samsung phones and is fast. I have to find out if it is still as fast with 1000s photos in the gallery.

I too have the Redmi note 4G . Got it for 7.2k on flip kart . Axis bank 10% discount and exchange scheme with my micromax a110 . Was a good deal so ordered it . Has better backup than my s4 which lasts barely a day (12hrs) . I also own a s3 and a redmi 1s ( both for wife ) which too work excellently .

The Lenovo A6000+ beats the Redmi 2 atleast on paper. It comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory, whereas the Redmi 2 has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory.

The Lenovo is clearly better in my opinion.

I continue to support the Redmi2 because of Xiaomi. They have a small set of devices which I believe allows for greater quality control (v/s a new phone launch every other day by manufacturers like Lenovo). They also have tightly integrated software, and although you don't see OS upgrades often, what you get are bug fixes being rolled out pretty often.

I'd much rather use a stable, supported phone, than use one that is manufactured in masses and let to rot afterwards.

P.S: I'm also not a great fan of Lenovo (past experience)

EDIT: I've been on the sideline (KitKat) waiting for bugs to be ironed out in Lollipop. It looks like 5.1.1 was released for Android One devices a few days ago. Anyone have feedback to share?
