Need to gift a smartphone to my father. Redmi 3S seems to be the best option but flash sales are a dampener. Any other similar options? Budget 7k. Needs- Good battery life., 5.5 screen, 4g.

The Moto G5 seems to have major issues, specially heating.
The 2.9 star rating on amazon is honestly pretty bad. Id suggest staying awag from it.

am using the Redmi 4a since last night and am mighty pleased by it. Lightweight and good performance. I am coming from iPhone 6 plus and am using this stop gap till the oneplus 5 becomes available

Pedro, I would strongly suggest waiting for a couple of months and buying the One Plus 5. It makes sense waiting and picking up the latest version unless you are stuck without a phone.

Are the accessories available on Amazon? I can't use Amazon on board the ship as it's blocked. Anyway as Cyborb mentioned, I think I'll wait for the OnePlus 5.

Thanks. My wife's Redmi Note 3 keeps hanging and her Samsung Note 3 battery has reached the end of it's life. So planning to upgrade both with an OnePlus 5 and an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus.

Try finding any rogue apps or any unwanted apps that could be slowing down the redmi note 3. I have a Redmi note 3 since the launch and its running wonderfully. And i'm probably the heaviest user.
If all fails, do a factory reset and just install the apps you require

Thanks. That's what I'll probably do. I'll anyway buy her 2 new phones and keep the Redmi Note 3 as my secondary.

Thats seems like a great plan, but I would recommend changing your phones before her. 6 Plus with 1gb RAM is a bit long in tooth now, even iOS has some issues with it. Rather look at getting the battery for the Samsung Note 3, easy since its removable(unless there is another issue with the phone too).

Also, if i may ask, If you could have a dual sim primary phone maybe you won't need a secondary phone. Just a suggestion since carrying two phones all the time is a bit of a hassle.

Actually I'm quite happy with it so intend to retain it for a while.

Rather look at getting the battery for the Samsung Note 3, easy since its removable(unless there is another issue with the phone too).

No other issues with the phone but it's quite old now. Besides never had a good experience with aftermarket batteries. But will check.

Should not be a hassle for my wife but for me I need 2 because of WhatsApp. Not come across a good phone with 2 WhatsApp accounts.
I keep 2 numbers. One for Family and Close friends and the other for Office and other people. I like to keep WhatsApp contacts and groups segregated too. Primary number is used for Whatsapping Family and close friends and Family Groups and serious WhatsApp groups like HAM, 4x4, Skoda etc which are strict about no jokes, forwards, porn etc. The secondary number contains the Groups that are not important but I can't exit.

In that case, I would suggest looking at Xiaomi flagships since Miui 8 has dual apps. Two whatsapp accounts work well in that. You can try it out in the RN 3 (most likely, you already would have).
Mi6 would be a great option. Most likely, it should launch in india by next month

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up buying one couple of days later but it was 12,999 by the time I decided. Two reasons because of which I bought this phone - a) processor is much better than the others in this price range b) the finger print scanner is in the front, and not in the back. My previous phone had the scanner at the back and it was a pain to unlock it when it was fixed to the mobile older in the car. The power button was barely visible under the grip of the mobile holder.

Happy with the purchase so far. I am migrating after 3 years of using Redimi phones. Let's see how it goes.

This is the 3GB RAM 32GB storage version i guess. Please let me know how it feels after moving over from MIUI and if you are finding the usability good. The main reason I like MIUI is for the out of the box options it has with regards to many things that are required on Android devices like cleaner, battery saver, battery percentage indicator, etc etc. This is the major grouse i had with the Moto G 1st gen. Even for a battery percentage indicator it required an app. Is it the same with the Lenovo UI as well as I have read it is very close to stock android. Also how is the RAM management and heating issues if any? If you clarify these above points, this phone is in the top of the contenders list for a replacement for the Redmi Note 3. Nothing wrong since the last 10 months with the Redmi Note 3 but it is becoming cumbersome handling the huge phone and want something little more compact. The 5 inch phones currently are all budget options with inferior SoC and the Z2 Plus is the only worthy contender currently. So want to get one before the production is stopped.
