Redmi Note 8. Cheaper and you can install Google Camera app on it. And in drop tests it has lasted very well. And yes, Quad camera too!

Have had a Google Pixel 3A since July and have been facing unusually quick battery drain after I updated to android 10. Before that, a full charge would last for a day and half (or even more), I am not a heavy user though. Now will possibly slightly increased usage, it barely lasts even a day.

Have started facing this problem immediately I updated to Android 10. Have tried rebooting the phone multiple times (and I do not have too many apps on my phone either).

While I bought the phone from Flipkart, why does it matter in case of replacement?
My original Pixel 1 had a very similar issue. It was 1.3 years old, so I thought it might need a battery replacement. Later, it was diagnosed to be a motherboard issue and I was denied warranty saying there is water damage (my model had 2 years warranty). To the best of my knowledge, my phone was never dropped in water and was used with a lot of care. Anyways, I decided not to buy a Pixel ever again. So, please rush to the service center ASAP and I hope the same does not happen to you.

Mine was shipped with 10, and the issue cropped up after latest patch update. Unusual battery drain in the first few days, and then phone started turning off by itself at around the 70% mark.

Dropped the phone off at FedEx yesterday as instructed by Google, who have promised to repair and ship back in 10 days. The overall Google experience has left me disappointed so far.

Usually after a major version update, I would suggest you do a factory reset. I usually do a clean install to avoid running into such issues.

There should be no such requirement for stock ROM updates. This is mostly helpful with custom ROMs. Just means that the update has a lot of bugs.

I too have been a victim of Google's (and Amazon's) shoddy products (N4 and N7) and I avoid them like the plague.

Friends, I am using Pixel 3a. Do you know which USB A to USB type C cable supports rapid charging?

I had posted a question about buying a Note 10 Plus from Australia. I finally got the phone yesterday, and it works in India. Thanks to everyone who suggested making a phone call using an Australian SIM. That seems to have disabled the region lock, and it works perfectly on my Jio SIM.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hi Guys,

After sitting on the fence for ages, I finally went in for a OnePlus 7T 256 gb in the middle of December. Literally picked it up and left for a 3-week long vacation. I can't believe how ignorant I have been about the current Android phones. A few of my friends have switched from iPhone and have been thrilled and it took them quite a lot of convincing to help me change my mind. Enjoying the Warp Charge, the screen, the camera, and the speed. Absolutely loving it. Was thinking about the iPhone 11 128gb but couldn't close on it because of the screen and certain other things which seemed too much of a compromise, especially considering the asking price.

Will be hanging out on this thread more often from now on. The MRP was 38k. Less 1.5k hdfc cashback, and less 12% gst credit. Will be disposing off my 4 year old 64 GB iPhone 6S for 9k. Only hitch is I have had to give up my apple watch in the swtich.

I have just started transferring data. While Apple Music, Spotify, contacts and photos etc was straightforward, how does one transfer whatsapp chats & media? From IOS to OnePlus?

Best,
Promit

Make a back up of your whatsapp in the old phone.

When signing into your new phone, restore from back up during signing it and setting up.

As far as I know, you cannot transfer WhatsApp from IOS to Android or vice versa, without using third-party tools of questionable integrity.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys I just picked up a OnePlus 7T to replace my cursed 1+3 (3 screen breaks in one year, 2 in the same month, seems like all the years of never breaking a phone have come for revenge at once !)

I haven't set out up yet as I'm waiting for my case and finger grip to come. Should I unlock and root my phone or is there no benefit. I don't plan on custom ROMs or anything as such, at most GCam for better pics. Should I avoid it ?

Also does the phone come with a years OnePlus care like the 1+3 did ?

There are apps that detect rooting and refuse to function if running on a rooted device. Usually payment/banking apps, streaming video apps etc. Best to wait if you use apps in these categories.

I seem to recall that UPI/BHIM/Google Pay don't work on rooted phones.
