It's been a couple of days now and the battery is pretty good. It easily lasts a day with about 5-6 hours of screen on time.

A really cool feature I'm seeing for the first time is adaptive overnight charging where the phone varies the charging pace to be at 100% at the time of your alarm thus prolonging battery life. Any other phones that offer this?

The camera of course is great, but I really wish this phone had a wide angle as well considering the price point. Think this is coming with the Pixel 5a.

Waiting for some clear skies to try out the astrophotography mode

I think this is an Android 11 feature. I see this enabled on my 2 year old Oppo Reno 10x Zoom after I got the Android 11 update on it.

I think the 6a will be the gamechanger with the in-house whitechapel chip.

Google hardly bring their phones to India though. The Pixel 4 and 5 didn't make it here so I don't think the 6 will be coming either.

I was only talkin about the A series. All the A series are here. I am on the 3a myself and it’s fantastic value. I am waiting for the 6a before making a quantum leap.

The premium series actually don’t make sense at all.

6a? Looks like you are not planning an upgrade in the near future. Let the 5a come first lulz

Haha. I am quite enjoying the 3a. I promised myself no upgrades until the software updates stop for the 3a. I think i have another year to go and the 6a should be out by around this time next year!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hello folks, Need some suggestions

I have a Samsung Note 9 which has been serving me well for the last 2 years but last week the screen
started showing line and greenish-yellow tint. The touch is working with no issues and there are no cracks either.
The screen was replaced almost a year back when it broke. Another replacement will cost 18k

I believe with mobile phones once any replacement is done it's bound to fail sooner or later.
Instead of replacing the screen, i thought of selling it and buying a new one..
The only 2 priorities I have for the new phone is :-

1.Battery Backup
2.Camera

Note 9 has been really good in this department so anything similar or better will do.
I don't do gaming or use my phone for heavy tasks. Just regular use.

Which one should I buy? Alternate suggestions or solutions welcomed

The main factor here is your budget.

If there's no limit on budget and you aren't averse to iOS, I'd advise you to go for the iPhone 12 Pro Max which has excellent battery life and cameras. However, you'd lose all your WhatsApp chats as there's no way to move WhatsApp data from Android to iOS.

If you're looking for an Android phone and there's still no limit on the budget, check out the S21 Ultra for excellent cameras and above average battery life (1 day with average usage).

If you're on a budget of around ₹40k, check out the S20 FE 5G. It has above average cameras and battery life.

If you're on a strict budget, check out the Galaxy F62. It has average cameras and amazing battery life.

I've only suggested Samsung Android phones as you must be comfortable with OneUI after using your Note 9.

Apologies as I forgot to mention the budget part.
Max 80k is what I am planning which cannot be stretched.
Ultra and 12 Max are both >1 lakhs so out of budget :-(

In that case, please do consider the OnePlus 9 Pro.

For about ₹70k you'd get a phone that has decent cameras, but below average battery life. Its saving grace is that it comes bundled with a charger that charges the phone from flat to full in around 30 minutes.

If you aren't averse to charging your phone around twice a day (depending on your usage), it's a decent option.

Unless screen real estate is a deal breaker, do have a look at the Google pixel series which will meet your both requirements & more....In India only 4a is available from the series

Check if you have the Wi-Fi calling option enabled. Samsung doesn't support call recording during Wi-Fi calls.

Any calls made or received when you are not connected to Wi-Fi will be automatically recorded. As an alternative if you want to record calls, you can also turn off Wi-Fi calling.

It's been confirmed by Samsung support as well.

We even have the Pixel 5 5G available in India. It's overpriced, though.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

We have a traditionally volatile Airtel cellular network in our residential area, and I must say WiFi calling has made our lives much easier. Calls connect faster and are far more stable while in conversation.

One query I had was that how much WiFi data am I consuming per call minute? Not that I'm worried about the data usage per se, but always useful to know.
