re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

All this talk about overclocking, modding, RAM and next, bigger better hardware is reminding me of the late 1990s, when the PC was growing and growing in capacity and shrinking and shrinking in terms of price.

I still remember the six digit prices people used to claim for I286s.

Any remember the "EISA ho to ISA" adline?

Finally somebody answers ! lol !
Well,
I do consider that.
Then, I am inclined towards Optimus One :(

But, I want a phone with good cam too!
I have been living with the so-so cam from Gene.
and, I need to take decent snaps from my phone cam now and then! (does not mean, some super cam is required! just a respectable one.. thats all)

Any reason why I should think of postponing the Desire HD?
Like I thought > the mid March launch of Honeycomb ?

Thanks Sprucegoose.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys I got alot of money to waste right now so wanting to buy a 25k phone.

Since the time the X1 came out I wanted to. Now I have the option of X10 and Galaxy S, both are really really nice.
One can click better pics, one can view them better.
One has my heart all flustered, one has my brain in overdrive.
I really just want to know which one do you guys like more and why and also which phone is what kind of phone, i.e. simple or complex.

Is the optimus one still a better buy?
It has the same crappy low-res screen as on the Galaxy 3. And that really kills the deal.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I saw the Galaxy Tab website and upon browsing liked the device, so booked a demo using the online form. Got a call back this afternoon and a demo is set up for the coming Sunday.

Experts what is your take on this device?

I do need to change my existing BB 8700 and would appreciate your views on this device and suggestions for alternates too. BTW I do not mind a bigger than usual form factor if that allows me to be rid of my laptop as far as email and browsing are taken care of. I can dump necessary data in to a USB stick or an extrenal Hdd and carry that around too for use as and when required.

Sure, I will keep updating this thread with my feedback. Coming from iPhone, I am actually pleasantly surprised. The first difference I see now is that in iPhone, if you are using Safari to browse a page and switch to a different app, and then come back to Safari, it starts loading the page fresh. In Android (at least this model), the page is done when I come back to the browser app. Guess thats why they call it "true multitasking".

So far the phone is good. From morning to 2PM, the charge has dropped by justs 15%. I had one long call and brief wifi usage. Angry Birds runs pretty smooth on it.
Question 1: Please tell more about the camera!
if possible please upload the images taken from the camera.

congrats on the gadget!

care,

Bhushan.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

@khoj - galaxy tab is a good choice but don't expect the refinement of a real tab till google launches their next android release honeycomb (android 3.0)
There will be a lot of google tabs coming in early next year - its still in the air whether google will want them to based on android or chrome OS!

Hmmmmm, have heard alot about it, but if I would consider something other than the X10, it would be only because it is technically much better than it. So is it?

@jassi Thanks for the heads up on the 3.0 et all. I have no idea regarding the Chrome OS and devices using the same except for the Chrome internet browser. Care to elaborate

I did check it out but the site says out of stock. There is a dedicated thread for this device and some members have prebooked the same. However there is no news of when it is going to be available.

that was supposed to be google's OS for tablets and computers which are always on the web world

Chromium OS - The Chromium Projects

Google Chrome OS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

check the google chrome channel on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/googlechrome

and very importantly goto www.google.com/demolab for a suprisingly cool demo :-P
