If your requirement is only GPS: Nokia 5230 is the best GPS I have seen on a phone till date. There is even a "drivers edition" with world maps pre-loaded. My friend was recently using it in the US, navigating everywhere just the same as any regular GPS would (offline GPS). He says it works equally well in India also (in fact he bought the phone here). In fact, his phone didn't even have a SIM card in it and the GPS was just working like a charm. I was floored, considering it costs only around Rs.7k. Total VFM for the GPS alone - and of course it is a good phone too.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Please stay away from Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro.
Pathetic battery.
The phone small and looks good.
But none of the feature is usable cause the phone dies in no time and spends all the time on the charger.
The key pad is an addition which is not that comfortable to use.

If you have a lot of money this is definitely a nice phone to hold and flaunt.
Usability is poor.

^^ I knew this, well not the battery part, the day I saw the x10 mini I was like, its so small, it was so so so small.

The Streak is nice and pocketable, but its more of a tablet than a mobile and my requirements are of a mobile, so the HD is quite perfect for me.

Hey amit,

I have been trying hard to hook my Samsung Galaxy 3 android phone to sansungdive.com but no luck. Any idea whether it is supported or not? I checked Galaxy 3's specs on Samsung website and against "Mobile Tracker" it says "No".

Buy it if you absolutely need a QWERTY keyboard, for that price the optimus one is a much better buy with froyo as standard

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

i did not know Huawei was getting into cellphones as well! I am sure they can easily make a phone which looks like the real thang :-P given their reputation for stealing code or the general chinese being good at making cheap imitations of anything and everything :-P Atleast this is better than the iphone, bberry, etc chinese knock-offs - its based on an open platform (android)

The 551 was quite impressive, had a decent camera, nice and big screen, the keypad was fairly easy to type on, well spaced. The optimas is also quite similar, it would be best if you would hold both in your hands to figure out which is the best.

@ Bluengel180 - 7K for the Huawei U8150 IDEOS sounds tempting! Someone's selling it for Rs.9750 in ebay!

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Huawei Ideos to launch in India this month for a sub 8K price | Androidos.in

As it is being marketed as the "cheapest android" expect the price to undercut the Andro a60

And Indian ebay is a joke.no warranty provided either

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I just switched over from a BB8520 to a optimus 1. Considered 551 as well and went to the store a played around with both for 10 min. Picked optimus 1 because of the form factor and the screen. Camera was not a major consideration. I found the LG set more usable. A more detailed review up soon.
