Yes, it was an OTA of 360MB. I received it yesterday evening. A short review.

1) Overall smoothness has improved. I expected more from Project butter though. Smoothness is similar to Atrix 2 ICS stock ROM
2) The new UI gets time to get used to
3) Not much changes observed in touchwiz applications.

Which one do you use? 7.0 or the 10.1? I have a 7.0 and it has not got any JB OTA update.

Guys, which android phone would you suggest given a budget of 12K (max) ? This one is for my father who is nearly 60 yrs old, just saying if that makes a difference.

I got micromax A110 last month and its worth the price (10k-11k). There is another one with smaller but better screen A90s(11-12k). Give it a try. I found performance of these better than similarly priced HTC/Samsung devices.
5" display in A110 has its very own good advantages and its not big to not fit into pockets either.

+1 for Mircomax A110, I am using Samsung Galaxy NoteII and bought micromax for dad, was really impressed with quality and size of the phone for the price.Touch and smoothness is amazing. Really VFM, I don't think any phone comes near to it in that range for this offering, 1Ghz dual core processor, 512 MB ram, 8MP camera 5'' screen and 4.0.4 ICS OS...very nice deal.

The smaller one A90s is 4.3" screen but has a super Amoled screen as compared to LCD screen of A110. Remaining every hardware specification is same. A110 I had bought was for Rs.9400/- where as A90s was for Rs.12k (Approx).

Hi guys, thanks for the reviews for the phone. I was just checking around for the stats of the phone and flipcart mentions talk time on 2G network is only 5 hrs. Which I feel is very low, and will probably be even lower in 3G. How have your experiences been with regards to the battery?

Just finished updating the tab 2 to JB. The gaming experience has been improved a lot. Will take some hours to get used to. Overall a good update.

With continuous wifi or GPS battery lasts for around 8-12 hrs.
With frequent gaming I got similar times
I dont use 3g.
I have not been able to use this phone in pure 2g mode for more than 12 hrs as someone or other is gaming/browsing using wifi on it except very few times when battery did last for a day and half with infrequent GPS /phone usage.

Today I have not used anything other than
- games for 15 mins
- 12 mins of 2G voice calls.

From 630AM(100%) till now (630PM) battery still shows 75% remaining. So it should go on for another 24 hrs at least with similar usage.

For me - I feel battery life is amazing! I easily get 1 day and 16 hours of life on one full charge. My usage is a bit of gaming, some social sites on both WiFi and 3G. But yes, 3G drains battery like mad. I have not checked on 2G at all so cannot comment.

Re: Micromax A100 Cellphone Review

A quick update on the Huawei X5 Ideos U8800 PRO:

Decent battery life, lasts a day and a quarter on normal usage which primarily included gaming.
Quality of phone is good, however I didn't like their ICS UI. Might flash a ROM or keep it that way, still confused since mom will be using this phone.
Picture quality is decent, but reviews out there say that the camera is a weak point in this.
No lag in gaming. Will try out the resource heavy games by tomorrow and update here.
All in all, a decent specced phone for 8,000.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

The headphones I got with my LG Optimus 4x HD give me a problem attending a meeting. People complain they cannot hear me properly. Looks like it doesn't have a mike or it doesnt work. Any good headsets that I can buy online?

The stock email app on the WAJKIUI GB ROM lacks a couple of things, doesn't display photos and I can't see the subject and to section. Can someone recommend another free email client that supports exchange mail and is free :-)
