Chhabra Ford has openly started promoting Ecosport on their Facebook page from today. Seems like we are week/s away from the launch.

They have taken some effort to design following template

Ford unveiled Ecosport in European-spec for the first time at Mobile Word Congress.

European version of Ecosport has 'SYNC Applink' which, as the name suggests, allows the driver to choose apps from your supported smartphone using voice commands and radio buttons on your steering wheel.

Also fitted to Ecosport will be 'SYNC Emergency Assistance', a system which contacts the local emergency services in the event of an accident and relays information such as the exact whereabouts of the vehicle to improve response times.

I love the all black interiors.

Ford is the only brand to have 2 cars on the list, and a non-SUV (Fiesta).

Let us just pray and hope that the EcoSport does not fizz out like the other Ford in the list.

Ford has almost everything on the line with this one car. Their future is banking on this one model. The Figo is selling but is getting old soon. This is what will make or break them.

Good one.

This was bound to happen with ford taking forever to launch it. Duster might be getting a mid life makeover by now.

But half the thread is pointless discussing which side rear door will open and why ford should price it so low that even figo should feel overpriced. Etc.

Have you checked new reva thread ? They are taking even longer to launch it

Did you all notice the blue lighting in the interiors (Vs Red on Fiesta). I am still NOT sure which one looks better; Red feels a bit more sporty!

On the other hand, gives us another option once we are done with blue lighting!

The thread has grown long. So sometimes older posts which are missed out, might re-appear now & then! I have seen same videos & posts repeatedly posted pages apart.

Am sure all these are effects of the enthusiasm and R&D efforts from members! Just like the brushing up before the final exam!

Interesting observation.

I guess the EcoSport is already ahead here. All of these 194 pages are pre-launch. When the XUV launch happened in end-September 2011, the thread was around 120 pages mark, and then went viral (upto 202 pages) from the launch until our official review – that’s an addition of 80+ pages in two weeks!

Now what need to see is whether the Ecosport can do a XUV once launched, or it will go down by its sibling's route

GTO - would suggest 3 additional points to be checked by Team-Bhp reviewers for all cars:-

1. Seats' Hip Point height from ground.
Place an Aluminium Curtain Rod on the seat where the buttocks
would be resting & measure the height from the ground. Higher hip point height is always better for us creaking bones.

2. Seats' Hip Point height from floor where feet will be resting.

3. Cylinder/Template Ground clearance test.
Make cardboard cylinders of 6", 7" & 8" diameters ( or use suitable PVC pipes cut 12" long!) & roll from the front towards the front lower suspension arm. Take a photo of the position where it gets stopped. Gives a good idea of how good the clearance is. Similar tests can be done for the space between the wheels & under the rear suspension.

No. It communicates with your phone using the standard bluetooth protocol, so works with almost any modern smartphone with bluetooth.

A starting price of Rs 5-6 lakhs seems too good to be true. Considering the current market dynamics, I guess Ford will slot the Eco Sport between the Quanto and Ertiga (petrol) on one end and the Duster on the other. I believe the price of the petrol variant will start in the range of 6.50 lakhs and the diesel will command the usual 1 lakh premium.

One also needs to consider the price of the new Fiesta with the same diesel engine starts at Rs 9 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. If we consider Figo's pricing, then Ford priced this fairly old model with high levels of localization at Rs 4-5 lakhs for the petrol variant & Rs 5-6 lakhs for the diesel. Eco Sport is a bigger & brand new model and Ford will definitely like to cash in on the current pent-up demand for small/urban SUVs.

Very true. The Duster does look more masculine than the Ford. But, I guess we are all waiting with bated breath to see what the overall package on offer is.
