Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Personally, I do not like the look and proportions of the car. I understand there is foam patting on the top but I especially hate the very thick C-pillar and the plain jane rear. Also, the tiny rear window is already making me uncomfortable, just by looking at it.

That's just my view, or someone else does feel the same?

About the alloys, has Fiat started lending alloy wheel designs too, for royalty?

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Any further info on whether the diesel and petrol would launch at the same time?

If this is the cheapest maruti with 1.3 DDiS and (of course) safety, then it will have many takers, including me.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I like the Ignis and if they launch it with the same looks and especially interior as shown in the pictures earlier in this thread, I would really love to buy one.

If they launch a top of the line version with AWD and a decent petrol engine (I'm not a big fan of diesel and don't need it for my running) they can count on me being in queue to get one sometime by the end of next year or early 2018. Obviously safety is one of the other big parameters. Currently my choices are limited to the S-Cross and Ignis as I need specifically a high (ish) car that is easy for elder people to get into and has as much safety kit as possible.

Not really, this is just a pic of the car in the auto show, not the interiors of the camouflaged test vehicle that they have shown just the exteriors of. Quite misleading on their part.

This is exactly the same interior of the Ignis which is in production in Japan.

Suzuki IGNIS ready for road test in Indonesia - Could be the 'Made in India' Ignis getting ready for Indonesian market after the Indian launch and like the S Cross the next car be exported from India to Indonesia!

Autocar reveals the Ignis variant, coming this festive season - will come in AT in CVT configuration.

We are also told that it will be offered with an automatic option, though the automatic gearbox will be a CVT and not an AMT.

The same article also reads:

4. Launch early next year

Maruti will bring the Ignis to its Nexa showrooms early next year. The launch was supposed to take place this festive season but has been pushed back due to capacity constraints at the Maruti plant.

The car looks a bit too small to me in these pics. I was thinking it'll be the size of a Ritz / Wagon R, but this is more like an Alto / Celerio size (length). It does look tall comparatively.

I'd be disappointed if they price this similar to the Ritz.

PS :: Unless the pics were clicked by someone quite tall, the car wouldn't appear this small is my gut feeling (if it indeed is bigger than what it looks).

Here is what Ignis will be when compared to Ritz in exterior dimensions, will be more spacious in interior space than the Ritz!

WB (Ritz) 2360, GC 170 , Ignis 2435 mm

Reports say that it's extremely spacious . Expect premium pricing as it's going to be a Nexa launch. Don't know what the KUV is priced at but expect Maruti to price it around a lakh more than that. Correct me if I am wrong.

I don't think they will price it a lakh more than KUV. They already have the Baleno in the Nexa showroom. So they have to price it accordingly. I'm guessing the pricing would be between the price of outgoing Ritz and the Swift. But we never know what Maruti can come up with.

Thankfully Maruti understood that AMT isn't premium! Should be interesting to see the positioning of this car across the Maruti portfolio. I am guessing it will be priced in the Swift category thereby leaving potential customers confused within the Maruti portfolio itself! Good problems to have as a manufacturer.
