I am not sure if this is the right forum for the query. Does CVT have any disadvantages over AMT other than cost and rubber band effect. I guess the clutch life in AMT would depend hugely on the driving style.

My experience with CVTs begins and ends with Scooterettes.

Will Suzuki CVT be reliable enough and have decent maintenance costs?

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

It looks too thin to be a 5 seater, it should fall into Tiago/Wagon-R territory and should be priced at least a 1.5-2 lakhs lesser than swift. The overall car resembles ritz albeit in a boxier/edgier manner.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I am interested in the Ignis and the rear end doesn't seem to be a problem for me. The only worry I have is that Suzuki might do the same pricing blunder it did with the S-Cross at the time of it's launch. The car according to me should definitely undercut the swift going by its dimensions but then again the fact that it'll be sold from nexa just makes me feel that maruti wont price it that competitively and i believe the top end Ignis will only undercut the swift by 10-20k.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Will Maruti Suzuki launch an Ignis RS with 1.0L boosterjet engine ? ( but not at launch as testing still continues even with launch coming up shortly)

Quote:
This particular version sports black alloy wheels which could hint at a RS version (remember the RS Baleno will come with black alloys). Does this mean the Ignis will also get a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor?

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I can see that a lot of BHPians are in favor of Ignis's design. However i some how feel that Ritz looks better than Ignis from what I have seen so far.

Also if Ignis becomes a hit, then the sales numbers of Swift is also going to go down. Sales numbers of Swift is already in the decline. Hopefully MSIL will stop coming up with another limited edition Swift.

Maruti won't be worried as long as the sales are from within their product range. Also, the new Swift due for 2017 will anyway attract a lot of buyers.

Now, what to do with Ritz? Even though the production is stopped to set the stage for Ignis, it is going to come back as a tour version. But Maruti has to stop this temptation to reintroduce ritz tour, imo. As the Celerio 800cc diesel is also going out of production, Maruti has to introduce Celerio with the 1.3L ddis engine in a detuned version and cater to private and taxi markets. Let there be less number of models to confuse the customers. And it's another way to place 12 out of their 14 models in top 20 sales models.

I believe the WagonR would be a better choice to plonk that 1.3DDiS in. It's a much more spacious car and I believe that it would work better as a taxi. The Celerio I believe will never work in a Diesel avatar because of the Tiago. The diesel Celerio is already a bit more expensive than the Tiago even though the latter has a better engine. Plonking the 1.3DDiS in it will definitely drive up the prices further.

The ritz when introduced was regarded as one of the ugliest looking, but over the time the looks and practicality grew over people. The ignis would also follow the foot steps of the ritz, however since the buying power of public has grown by multi fold over the years, the ignis might garner a hefty initial sales boost unlike the ritz. Thanks to the mileage crazy nation, expect a waiting of 6 months even for the ignis.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Suzuki Ignis (for India) shows its interiors,

Could be the mid-variant is because the top-end Ignis is expected to feature a fully-touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Suzuki Ignis again! To be unveiled at the Paris motor show for EU followed by the Indian launch in October/Nov.

Ignis will slot in below the Baleno in Maruti's Nexa lineup.

Totally agree with you. The Ignis, if priced well, will absolutely dominate the segment. It will totally kill the current gen swift(also thanks to the Baleno) but that won't be a problem for Suzuki as the new swift is on its way. The car doesn't seem ugly to me at all. Even the rear end is fairly well designed and the thick D-pillar is something we'll get used to (I guess). Suzuki really have a winner on their hands. The KUV100 is definitely going to face some serious heat now.

Suzuki Ignis to be unveiled for EU next week at the Paris motor show. To come in a high degree of customization. Can the same be expected for India?
