In an exclusive interview to CNBC Money Control, Tata Motors' Managing Director Guenter Butscheck has revealed that the Tata Nexon will be launched two weeks before Diwali, i.e., in the first week of October 2017.

"In 2017-18 we are going to launch Nexon two weeks before Diwali.
The long awaited product from the stable of Tata Motors where we will finally celebrate our revival in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment.
It's the fastest growing market segment in India."

From that first pic, it looks like a hatch on steroids.

Thought it would look a bit more SUV-ish.

With all due respect, I don't understand the obsession about SUV-ish look. It is a compact SUV or Pseudo SUV, which can never match an SUV look, so it is bound to look like a hatch on steroids.

Plus, I did mention somewhere that it was probably a conscious decision by the design team in Tata to look different than all the existing compact SUVs in the market.

I am pretty impressed by the looks of this car so far, especially from the rear. Look very modern and futuristic but not timeless for sure.

What do you guys think? Go for brezza or wait for nexon to get launched and then decide?

If you can wait, then definitely do wait. I myself have not been able to settle for any other car and have decided to wait for the Nexon.
I booked the Baleno on launch day, then decided to wait for the RS, then finally decided that my heart was set on the Nexon and that is what I will buy. Even though it will delay my car purchase by 2 years.
The initial demand for Baleno as well as the shortage in ray blue colour made me wait till I saw the Nexon at the auto expo. Once I saw it, there was no going back.

In my view, a compact SUV always looked like a hatch on hormones sans the body claddings of the cross overs of premium hatches. Brezza (numero uno -period) anytime reminded me of the humble alto. Renault went the other way to make the best selling hatch in the name of kwid (agree that duster is not compact). The only problem here for tata is that they are late to the party. I also would like to mention one more fact, I think, we, out of our LOVE towards the TATAs always expect them to outperform the likes of mercs or audis in producing a vehicle but bring it in pure desi prices along with fuel economy. :-S

It's never too late. See Brezza/Creta. There were Ecosports and Dusters/Terranos before them. But how Brezza/Creta came in and moved up the charts. A newer entrant, if competent, steals the thunder of old brigade.

This car has built up good amount of enthusiasm. There are some guys in my circle who are holding their purchases up till they see Nexon. Me too. But I feel Tata is delaying too much. They should have launched this first, the most action packed segment, rather than Hexa/Tiago/Tigor etc. Every month Brezza/Ecosport/Creta/Duster/Terrano are adding nearly 30,000 mini-SUVs to the streets. How many more months is Tata planning on ignoring this segment?

Even though the overall design is pleasing, the front for me looks bulbous and heavy. They should have tried to make it a bit sharper.

You have transformed the way the front looks. Much prefer how you are envisaging the looks!
I hope Tata acts on this early feedback. Know for sure that they track this thread. I feel the only fly in the ointment in terms of Nexon's design is how the front looks.

It's impossible that Tata will make any design changes. I personally think this mod makes it look like it has a Honda family face. Nexon looks fresh the way it is.

This is exactly what I had in mind and it looks much much better!! Hope Tata looks at your photoshopped picture.
