re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Launched with 4.99L for LXi, 5.99L for LDi , Petrol auto VXi at 6.34L, Diesel auto Vdi at 7.34L.

Though the base variant is priced 35K less than Baleno, the middle variants - from which maximum sales are generated - are priced just around 15K below Baleno!

I remember a similarly spec'ed Ritz was priced close to 50K less than Swift after discounts. Now with this kind of pricing for the new gen Swift, the margins from a Swift will be close to a minimum of 75K, I assume. With a monthly sales of 20K units, this translates into 150 crores per month, and 1800 crores per year. The entire development cost can be met from India itself within an year! Can someone tell them we are not cows for this kind of milking?

Prices, ex-showroom Delhi:

My predictions were spot-on:

AGS variants should be priced at around 47K-48K above their manual counterparts.

Comparative pricing with siblings and i20. The Swift seems to be priced on the higher side nudging the larger Baleno and i20, which now seems quite well priced for the premium-ness it offer.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Despite being pricier by ~30k, I think its advantage Baleno due to the following factors-

1) More legroom, shoulder room.
2) More boot space.
3) UV Cut glass (on the higher variants).
4) More ground clearance(~7mm).
5) Fatter tyres.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I had booked Swift ZXI AMT when the bookings opened in Bangalore

The Swift ZXI AMT is priced ex-showroom at 6,96,000 which translates to an on road price of 8,30,000.
Baleno Delta CVT is priced at 7,28,000 (ex-showroom). This translates to on road price of ~8,80,000.

The more premium, spacious Baleno makes more sense now than the Swift. I hope i will be able to transfer the booking amount from Maruti to Nexa.

What do you guys think?

Maruti Suzuki SWIFT bookings cross 40,000. Waiting period is at ~ 6-8 weeks .

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I am in a slight conundrum now. I had kept my purchase of Baleno Delta CVT on hold till the Swift prices were out. I needed a car for city runs and occasional highway trips. A price difference of about 70k- 1 lakh between comparable variants would have made me go for the Swift. For an on-road price difference of around RS.40k, I am wondering if I should downgrade to the Swift ZXI AMT for this?

Things I get in the Swift and not the Baleno:
1) Push button Start-Stop (I am not a big fan of this tech)
2) 6 speakers instead of 4
3) Driver seat height adjust
4) Leather wrapped steering wheel
5) Seemingly better MFD compared to Delta Baleno
6) Front fog lamps

Things I get in the Baleno and not the Swift:
1) CVT transmission instead of AMT
2) Bigger car with higher ground clearance
3) Front and centre cabin lamps instead of front only in Swift
4) Upcoming dedicated Nexa service centres

Can the gurus and Baleno owners here help me decide if the additional 40k is worth the Baleno CVT while losing out on the 6 things I mentioned above?

Not an owner, but my 2 cents: The CVT should be much much better than the AMT, so that itself should make you lean towards the Baleno. Also,

This "dedicated" service centers can and will service non NEXA cars as well, so you can rule this out

Thanks! I heard the AMT in Swift is much more refined compared to the jerk filled hell that was Celerio AMT? I guess I can only find this out by doing back to back test drives of these cars.

Yikes! I didn't know the Nexa service centres would be servicing non-Nexa cars too.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I had attended New Swift launch today at Kasaragod. I got to check VXI and ZDI +. New Swift in midnight blue looks really awesome in person. Pics don't do any justice. Overall space is much better than old Swift. Interior plastic quality is typical Maruti.

Some Info :
1. Petrol variants have 12-14 weeks waiting period and it is 6-8 weeks for diesel.

2. More than 150 bookings in this dealership. 80 cars already in stock.

3. Maruti has instructed dealers to start deliveries from 10 th Feb.

4. Fog lamps were purposely skipped in lower variants, so that Maruti could sell them as accessories . Also to keep the pricing competitive.

6 things yes - but are any of those as relevant as points 1 and 2 in favour of the Baleno?

Dimensions, engine and transmission etc make the car. You can add leather wrapped steering wheel and a dozen speakers also if needed after market - but mechanicals cannot be changed later.

Price is dependant on demand. They are free to price it at one crore as well if the demand they expect exists.

I understand your sentiments, but then - the sales numbers will mostly tell Maruti a totally different story. Like cows, you were saying? Sheep and herd is what comes to my mind.
