I dont see Tata Motors gaining a 3rd place finish in monthly sales in the near future. M&M and TM have been trading places consistently for last few months. The launch of the Marazzo, which is expected to decent volumes of atleast 4-5k units per month and impending launch of the mini S201 will ensure a solid 3rd for M&M. On the other hand, Tata does not have any volume sellers coming up. Harrier with its pricing will not be able to bring enough numbers for Tata to be able to challenge M&M for the 3rd spot.

Overall they have faced a drop in sales, but I guess this is more in line with the market sentiments prevalent with all players losing sales numbers compared to last year. Having said that I still don't fully understand Tata's marketing strategy. First they create all the positive vibe regarding the JTP variants of Tiago and Tigor and even schedule the media drives. Post that now there is no concrete news of the launch. Why lose all that positive press coverage and then launch at a much later date when people have forgotten about your car all together.

A correction to the above. TATA retains the 3rd spot again beating Mahindra and Mahindra by a whisker. Earlier figures had some pick-up tucks added to Mahindra's numbers.

Nexon continues to attract customers even in Dec.
Tata shipped 4393 units of Nexon. Honda sent 2425 WRVs to its dealers and Ecosport further dropped to number four at 2275 dispatches in compact SUV segment.

Sad to see Ecosport's dropping numbers. Last month also was bad at 2724 units.

Why exactly are you sad? I'd have thought it's a joyful and proud moment to see a homegrown/domestic manufacturer beating an MNC.

Why not both?

Nexon is a great product, so is Ecosport and both get outsold by the Brezza combined, which is arguably the third-best car among the three.

We'll never get better cars if good ones currently on sale don't find buyers.

Yes it is very much a proud feeling to see homegrown products successfully competing with international brands. As Chetan_Rao mentioned sad only because Ecosport is equally a good car.
Overall Ecosport scored marginally better than Nexon in my personal evaluation after back to back test drives of both.

Mahindra holds on to the third position in PV sales in both March-19 and FY'19. Mahindra's launches seems to have helped them retaining this position.

Was waiting for the press release highlighting the 12% YoY growth vs the rest.

But the fact remains that March by itself was not great for Tata, and was for Mahindra. You win some you loose some. In the long term trajectory TATA are on the better path.
