I wonder how all that technology can be bypassed so easily. Features like geo fencing etc should have been difficult to beat. Maybe the new owners didn't set it up.

I'd also like to know how well embedded the e-sim is. As far as it being accessible is concerned. Hopefully it's embedded deeply behind the dash and hence not easy to be removed.

The new age tech savvy thieves are quick learners i guess.
Embedded SIM is part of the mobile device board and cannot be removed.

What is the data limit since you use it for music etc ?

I wasn't talking about removing it from a user perspective. But from the point of view of car thieves. If they can steal the ECM from a car, I'm sure removing an embedded sim won't be that much of a problem.

My question was from the point of accessibility. If it's placed as close as behind the dash, disabling it will be easy peasy.

Three year data subscription is free. So I'm assuming at least 1-1.5GB data limit per day, where Airtel connectivity permits.

Since the downloads are restricted to maps, audio and music streaming, there may not be a too strict cap as well. Users can't download any other content.

Re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

I just had a word with the SA at MG Safdarjung. In all probability, bookings are slated to reopen during the Navratras since it's an auspicious period when people make purchases.

There is a heavy demand for Petrol Auto followed by diesel MT and then the Hybrid. They despatched 70 cars last month out of which around 40-45 were the Petrol DCT. Delhi folks are preferring the automatic for obvious reasons.

Re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

Apparently MG is having a rally event in Gurgaon today, to achieve highest mileage over the duration of the rally and SAs from different dealerships are going there to participate.

This seems like an interesting move by an auto company to alleviate customer fears of low mileage. I don't think anyone has done this before (or have they).

Have asked my SA to send me photos of the MID with the mileage he achieves and the driving style he followed to achieve it

Also I managed to get my dealer to reduce my MG Secure insurance to Match Tata aig quote of 39k. This is nearly a 30k reduction in cost of mg secure now(from what they originally quoted - 69k) for sharp petrol DCT.

Also they've said hey will remove handling charges for me.(if they don't at the end, I'll raise hell so will come to know in a few days)

Dealer says car will come to dealership on this Sunday , will do PDI then.

Does anyone know how the VIN number translates to month of manufacturing in case of Hector?

you may as the dealer to send you the VIN now, which you can put on the "decode the VIN" thread, and you should get a prompt response from someone. I did the same with Kia.

Is this regarding the so-called waitlist? MG website issues this warning message now -

No it's regarding the actual bookings. MG is aware of the dealer waitlist. In fact, the waitlist no or the 'Priority sequence number' as they call it, is assigned by MG itself.

The warning message on the website is for dealerships trying to earn a fast buck by promising people who've booked that they'll jump/ speed up their delivery.

So the drive was an interesting one. From Le Meridian to Mayur Vihar in day time with regular traffic on flyovers and narrow roads traffic.

The SA I know got 17kmpl tankful-tankful and the winner got 23kmpl! Strangely the MID showed lower than tankful-tankful method.

Mostly they drove under 2k rpm and max speed ~70kmph

This is to counter the false promise of expedited delivery by jumping the queue.
Dealer waitlist is legit.
And in my case dealer has been super transparent to set a realistic expectation of delivery.
For a booking in Oct/Nov, once the window reopens, the delivery can be expected only around Feb-March and it’d be 2020 models.

Yes apologies for missing out this was petrol DCT specific drive as that is where most people have complaints of low mileage

I would take those figures with a pinch of salt. Regardless of how one drove it, those figures are too good to be true for a large sized Petrol AT SUV. These figures are definitely fudged, one way or the other.

Re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

Went to the MG Noida showroom and got done with the PDI for my glaze red sharp DCT.

All points of PDI list checked out and I especially looked for panel gaps and rust. All seemed fine. The touchscreen was smooth and lag free (unlike the demo models).

The service center area of the MG Noida showroom is cavernous, there can be atleast 30 Hector's serviced simultaneously.

Also got some accessories selected for installation. Will be collecting my car on 30th sep so registration and accessories will be fit before that. More on this later.

Additionally took the premium 5 year amc package. In essence don't need to spend anything on this car for next 5 years (fingers crossed).

Some photos from the PDI are attached. (Excuse the poor quality , the camera is bad and the car was dusty (just came off the trailer a couple of hours before the photos were taken)

Will start my own thread on ownership review once I get delivery.

Agree, I expect 8-9kmpl for my daily drive as good enough figures (45km each day with 20kms in office hour traffic)

Re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

As per my sources, MG is going to reopen bookings for the Hector from the 29th of September ie..the first day of the Navaratras or on the 1st of October 2019.

Priority waitlist clients will be contacted for the booking amount and their bookings will be fed in first.
