I could give you figures but that wont be practical so I'll give you just my opinion form my experience.

Few pointers to get the best out of MJD;

1. Avoid the route with max no of traffic lights and take a detour which might be couple of km longer to your destination.
2. Avoid sudden acceleration under 2k rpm, this way you will keep the turbo healthy and smoke black less.
3. Keep the tyres inflated to correct pressure

Now about the sweet spot- If you keep the rpm at 1500 no matter what gear you are in and shift at 2200 rpm. You will observe that when you shift at 2200rpm you will automatically get to 1500 rpm without extra acceleration.

Sedate driving at 1500 rpm is the sweet spot for MJD for max average and 2k rpm for anything between 25-27 km/L on highways.

Some times people change gears too soon and then lug a bit before the engine settles down at descent speed. That consumes form fuel then fast acceleration.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

model: Ritz VXI
during recent trip to Garhwal Himalayas up North, it gave a mileage of 15kmpl as per my Dad.
Very very good indeed, considering Car has only done 1500 odd KMs on ODO.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 2007 Grand Vitara AT shows 8.5 kmpl in MID and in reality gives around 9.5kmpl. At this time using no AC, 100% city drive at low speeds of 20 to 50kmph.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Absolute ripping, with revvs in upwards of 3k rpm 90% of the time, for 956 kilometers, over the last 4 days and my iKon still gave an FE of 13.7.

Total Damage: 69.78 liters of petrol.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I was just going around few pages backwards. It was really amazing to see that Fiat Punto and Linea gives good mileage and i was really under a wrong impression till date. Also saw a couple of Wagon R which was reported only 10-11 kmpl. Normally i expected more mileage from Maruti cars. Unbelievable but its true.

MANZA- - I get around 13-14 in city with 50% AC. Highway should be normally 16 +/-1. Depends on the road condition and speed.

i10:- It normally returns around 11-12 in city traffic with 25% AC. Highway last time i got only 12.85 kmpl.Normally the driving cost is around 6/- per km in city traffic.

What is the max average do you get at 1500 rpm? and what is your speed at this rpm in 5th gear?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I just completed a run to Lonavala and back yesterday with my City S AT, a total distance of some 252.2 KMS. Took the car in for a refill and it gulped down 14.01 litres of fuel.

That works out to about 18KMPL flat. The AC was on only during the expressway run and during the afternoon when I was pottering about and just checking the locality out. The MID displayed 20.x, but I'm still quite happy with 18 KMPL.

I drove at speeds of about 80-100 KMPH, didn't really give it full gun except in some stretches where I let it run till 120 KMPH, but all in all a very measured drive. Pleasing to see those kind of figures from a petrol AT sedan.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

^^^ True. We have hordes of Getz (1.1 & 1.13s) in our organisation and this is the first time I am hearing of such a great FE.
Which city BTW & is this with/without a/c ? Normal city FE reported for Getz in Chennai with 100% a/c is 10-11kmpl.

Add gas-station as an important factor that determines FE of your car. From the time I bought my Baleno, the city FE with 100% a/c was ~12kmpl.
Recently I happened to try out a new gas-station and the results were stupendous - for each of the fillings from this gas-station I easily got 13kmpl and frequently 14kmpl too.
Latest was 425kms for a 30.19litre fill.

For those in Chennai, this is the BPCL pump adjacent to the old Woodlands Drive-in restaurant (now a park) on Cathedral road. They have the latest hi-tech dispensers, with automatic bill generation etc.

Anything between 17-21 in city depending upon traffic and on highway at 1500rpm 29+ Km/L. At 1500 rpm the speed in 5th gear is 65.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I drive a GP90HP - It gives me around 16 to 17 KMPL in the pune city where i drive daily to hinjewadi (traffic hell of Pune) and on highways it gives me around 19 to 20 KMPL if driven sedately however the fuel efficiency drops to 15 when i redline it constantly.

This holds true for any car. Follow the above steps and you will find your FE increasing tremendously. In my case I use the Alto K10 as a short distance transport - 0.5 to 1.5 km journeys, so I get an FE of 12-13, but when I drove on the highway it went up to 19 with AC. So driving style and congestion matters a lot.

Randhawa got the sweet spot in the statement above to be 1500 rpm but what is 2k rpm for? Did you mean that one should be in between this band?
