Aveo 1.4 FE

Tried searching this thread but could not find many results (got only 2).
My Aveo 1.4 has just clocked 500kms and the current FE is around 10 with AC. This should improve to 12 once the car has done 2000kms+, as told by the dealer.

Baleno gives me 13-15 KMPL - mix of highway and city driving. Very little or no speedo error here.. I checked by comparing GPS readings with the speedo.

My Santro XL 2006 gives me 11 in city & 13 on highways. AC is always on. Any suggestions how I can improve it? My car runs on alloys & 165 width turanzas. Could it be because of the wider tyres?

done around 2100 kms on my SX4 Zxi.. before 1st service got 10-10.5 kmpl .. from the last top up, I got a much better FE of 12.5-13 kmpl in city driving condition with 95% AC usage..guess crossing the 2000 kms mark kicks up the engine effiencieny!

attn MANJU..

Many says IT IS BETTER to move to higher gear whenever it is possible w/o knocking the engine . -http://www.wikihow.com/Save-Money-on-Gas : says - "the most efficient speed is your car's minimum speed in it's highest gear, since this provides the best "speed per RPM" ratio."
IF it is SO..would you clarify your point"Never shift to 5th gear, unless car is at 70kmph and expects to drive at least 2kms at that speed, what it means is rarely I drove in 5th gear."
by the way what about cars which dont have TACHOMETER.
TIA

2. At 441kms on Odo filled once again Shell Supreme upto auto cutoff, with trip meters showing 418.5 kms, only city driving.

3. It took 28.56 lts @ Rs54.47/lt

4. So FE is 14.65km/lt, in Bangalore on Hosur road. Daily commute between Vijayanagar and EC morning around 8AM and evening around 7-9PM.

Driving habits:
- Press clutch only when it is required to change the gear.
- RPM was maintained between 1500 to 2800 most of the time
- Never shift to 5th gear, unless car is at 70kmph and expects to drive at least 2kms at that speed, what it means is rarely I drove in 5th gear.
- Around 15% AC, as it is winter here in Bangalore
- Tyre pressure was around 36PSI, after driving around 15kms, so at cold it may be around 32psi.

-manju

a thing to llok for!

its absolutely correct for all carb engines for all the conditions.in the case of mpfi engines<especially in the better designs> there is a load calculation too and the ecu will sent the air fuel ratio on richer side within pre priscribed limits. if u press the accelerator even more <how much is MORE depends upon the programming in the ecu and varies >then the lambda sensor reading is not taken in to consideration for mixture cross correction and continously richer mixture is added till the load, accelerator position lambda value and rpm<in some cars even car speed too> is within pre priscribed zone .
shifting faster while maintaining the momentum in higher gear with lightest accelerator input will give u good kmpl figures on all cars equiped with elec. management systems .
there is one more glitch.. more the advanced programming and variables and ruling parameters added to it , wider the fuel efficiencies varies on the same car .
more the complicated the system better the milage it will give in good hands.and woester in rash hands.
in short more the KNOLEDGABLE the ecu is better the driving it expects from the oprator.and rewards of punishesit accordingly .

I got a FE of 13 on my recent tank which is split to:
15 km or 3.9% in city smooth traffic flow
350 km or 89.7% in the highway, cruising between 120-140,
15 km or 3.9% in stop go traffic for about 1 hour
10 km or 2.5% in city with smooth traffic + rough traffic + long idles.

I think its a great FE for the Ikon 1.6. What do you people say??

EDIT: 100% a/c used.

Now my Corsa returns figures of around 7.5 in city usually without AC. Highway figures are around 9.5-10.
