Return drive is pathetic and I get into at least 2-3 jams. Have been driving in city too. Worst mileage I've got so far is 11.5 that included 70 km 5.5 hour drive in city and hosur road. Bumper to bumper traffic have also hardly impacted mileage and I have NOT been driving for mileage ![]() | |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Its driving habit coupled with how much of your total drive is B-to-B traffic as opposed to free road driving (i.e., in 4th or 5th gear for few stretches...) I have been driving almost B-to-B, driving for one tank fill and I seemed to get less than 10 kmpl. Then after 1st service, I drove for 4 days B-to-B, and once did about 100 kms free drive (within and out of city), with 4th/5th gears. Now the calculation goes well above 10 kmpl. So, My observation is City B2B = <10 and Free driving >10. I guess thats reasonable figures, given the sporty nature of the car and the passion to drive in me. |

| ![]() 2006 Tata Marina 1.4 TDi Diesel Distance: Checked over the last 798km between full tank fills - Combination of terrible Bangalore Traffic (100% A/C, no switch-off at signals, est about 220km), moderate traffic (293km), and Bangalore Mysore trip, averaging 68kmph i.e. about 2hrs each way with short spirited bursts at 110~125kmph, and then some driving inside Mysore industrial area (285km) Fuel: Combination of BP, HP, and some suspicious Highway Pump - no Shell, at any rate Last Service: 2000km and 2 months ago FE: 15.05 kmpl Unfortunately the car does not return specific FE figures on trips through an on board computer, so I have no way of knowing how much exactly I get on highway Vs City driving. I realised that the first service did not provide a tuning check due to a fresh (novice) service dealer in Lucknow. I was lucky that one fine morning I recieved a follow up call by the service center where in I registered my complaint. An email was also sent to the generic support mail at the HM website. I recieved a call from the Delhi service Head assuring me that they will get my car tuned and checked on 17th by the serice center, to which I agreed happily. Just today I again recieved a call by the same asking me to get it checked preferably on 23rd since the experts will themselves be visiting here for the check up. Hope it is fixed and nothing serious. Will keep everyone posted. Meanwhile, I am trying to adapt to all possible driving habits as suggested by so many. | |

| ![]() tankful to tankful on the highway- the swift VDi gives 19kmpl, with the AC on if driven decently in the city, it can do 18kmpl(tested) but traffic the way it is-I end up revving it a lot more- usually get only15kmpl with AC on in cochin have got upto 18kmpl when I was driving around coimbatore city will update with verna figures but as a teaser- i suspect I'm making more than 22kmpl on the highways with climate control at 20 degrees all the time with speeds between 80-100(eat your heart out petrol fanboys! ![]() |
