Tata Indigo Fuel Efficiency

Recently on a trip between Blr and Chennai I got a mileage of close to 18KMPL on my Tata Indigo. My Wagon R gives around 12KMPL in City. As for my Scorpio it returns a poor 9 KMPL in City and 12KMPL on the highway.

Last tank full of shell ordinary petrol returned 13.95 kmpl for 357.5 kms.

India V2 DLS
City (Delhi to Gurgaon return trip, a run of 50+ kms daily): 16-17 km/ltr
Highway 18-20 km/ltr

Was able to extract this mileage upto 5 years of ownership, with only 1 km/ltr dropping in the 5th year

New Honda City 1.5 Gxi (1st Gen) - 11 kmpl in City and 14 kmpl on highway with a/c on (I drive this car and hence the poor FE)

Honda Civic 1.8S - 9.5 kmpl in city and 12 kmpl on highway

Swift ZXI
City->11-13 (depending on traffic/time of yr and god knows what!)
Highway->15-17 ( depends on road conditions and AC usage)
All figures are calculated with full tank to full tank with first auto cut off at time of filling.

cheers:I get more or less the same as u quoted for city and highway. However I have got upto 18 kmpl on Highways but nowadays I get 15-16 kmpl. I use A/c all the time and never stall the engine even when parking and waiting etc.

I have never used additives, I fill stock petrol and am not fussy about place where I fill em from. My car has never misfired. I just change oil at 5000-8000 kms interval and the car has clocked close to 120000 kms. How much has urs run?

Hey btirthankar,
Guess we both are almost in the same boat :P

Mine has run 110000 kms and i also dont use additives and stock petrol. But most of the time i fill from the pump near my house, dont know if it makes a difference but they give good service and are really close.

P.S. - How about posting some pics (once your garage is activated of course, mine will also be up the day my garage is activated)

I have a lot of pictures otherwise: esp this underbody one: Picasa Web Albums - Tirthankar - Car Underbody...

SUggesting u too get hi-res underbody pics. We can get more understanding.

Coming to Mileage Topic:

I believe in driving with a light foot, use engine braking, brake subtly, use clutch and self to a minimum (even if that means idling) and change at a shade below 2000 rpm without engine judder.

accent 1.6 petrol fuel efficiency

last month i got a free flow done for my accent 1.6 dohc and man it gives me 12 to 13km/litre in the city and 17 km/litre on the highway and that also fast driving ....earlier i use to get 9 to 10 km/litre in city and max and i say max 12 km/litre on the highway ....have not checked the top speed but will try that soon ...180 + soon on expressway. Autocar mag says 185 ..will try

i think the problem lies with these company fitted exhaust systems .
They not only rob power but also affect fuel efficiency
